About the JobThe Business Development Manager will be primarily responsible for driving the company’s sales/business development strategies and acquiring new business.
The successful candidate will improve the current client portfolio, bring in new businesses, and achieve positive client migration results.
The successful candidate will support the Managing Director in achieving the company’s corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Lead and managed the business development division within the company to achieve annual business targets.
Develop in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.
Analyse the company’s past business development decisions and suggest improvements.
Drive performance within the division by coaching the business development staff and implementing effective performance management.
Prospect potential new clients and turn this into increased revenue.
Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure you have a robust pipeline of opportunities.
Identify potential clients and the decision-makers within the client organisation.
Research and build new business relationships
Provide clear and well-informed business development recommendations based on thorough research and analysis to the stakeholders.
Set up meetings between client decision-makers and the company’s practice leaders.
Plan approaches and pitches.
Work with the team to develop proposals that meet the client’s needs.
Prepare all documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs).
Participate in pricing the solution.
Handle objections by clarifying, emphasising and working through differences to a positive conclusion. * Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate.
Devise and implement a strategy for meeting sales
performance targets.
Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a Social Science or Quantitative discipline.
Minimum of ten years post-university work experience with at least four years at a senior management level.
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
Strong experience leading, supervising, and motivating a team of sales & marketing professionals.
Up to date with the latest developments in the financial sector.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Strong research and critical/strategic thinking abilities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong ethical behaviour and proficiency in decision-making.
