Job Purpose The Nedbank Ethics Office is an independent function responsible for developing and coordinating all ethics and human rights-related strategies and interventions across the Nedbank Group.
The Ethics Officer will provide support to the Group Ethics Officer in all activities relating to managing the institutionalisation of ethics and human rights across the organisation.
Job Responsibilities
Provide assistance to the Group Ethics Officer in conducting Ethics and Human Rights Risk Assessments for the group.
Provide assistance to the Group Ethics Officer in developing and monitoring the implementation of relevant ethics and human rights management plans across the group.
Develop and maintain ethics and human rights-related codes, policies, frameworks, and statements for the Group.
Provide substantive input into other group policies and procedures to ensure the effective and consistent integration of ethics and human rights philosophies.
Conduct ethics training and awareness sessions for employees to drive an ethical culture and ethical behaviour across business.
Provide confidential advice and guidance to employees on conflict of interest, the giving and receiving of gifts, ethical conduct and ethical decision-making.
Participate as an independent ethics observer in high risk and high value tenders (to the value of R10 million or more).
Provide support to the Group Ethics Officer in monitoring and reporting to relevant Board and Exco committees on the state of ethics and human rights for the group.
Continuously monitor local and international trends and best practice initiatives to support the governance and management of ethics and human rights within the group’s operations and its supply chain.
Conduct end-to-end investigations relating to harassment (including sexual harassment), unfair discrimination, assault, human rights abuses, nepotism/cronyism, and other breaches of ethics or values in an independent, impartial and objective manner.
Build professional relationships with stakeholders and provide independent advice and
guidance to employees and business functions on ethics and human rights-related queries.
Qualification]
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor of Commerce: Business Management , Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Minimum Experience Level
3-5 years working experience as an Ethics officer in the following areas: law, ethics, risk management, governance, human resources, organisational development, consulting or human rights within the Banking/Financial Services Industry.
