Job Purpose Statement

To oversee the intermediaries underwriting process and ensure prudent underwriting. To also manage relationships between the intermediaries and the insurance companies to ensure SLAs are achieved.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Financial

Monitor and ensure recognition of all revenues relating to Bancassurance.

Adherence to the credit binder policy with regards to terms and Insurance rates.

Ensure timely production reconciliation with
underwriters.

Internal business processes

• Reviewing all underwriting policy documentation to ensure clients are sufficiently covered.

• Ensure renewal notices are timely issued.

• Ensure proper management of certificates and timely declaration with underwriters.

• Manage policy cancellations.

• Execution of day to day Underwriting functions.

• Working with Underwriters, clients, and branch teams to ensure strict adherence to set guidelines and TATs on all underwriting issues.

• Ensure timely submission of underwriting documents and other requisite documents to Insurers.

• Timely monthly reconciliations with insurers and resolve of any discrepancies.

• Facilitate prompt issuance of motor certificates, policy documents, renewal confirmations, endorsements, refunds, cover notes, Insurance confirmation forms and any other requested document.

• Maintain and keep files/records

of all centralized underwriting matters including cancellations.

• Management of captive business renewals within
agreed timelines to achieve highest levels of retention.

• Provide technical guidance and business support
including regular updates to Branch teams.

• Ensure full compliance to underwriting policies and procedures as may be issued from time to time

Ideal Job Specifications

Academic: Bachelor of Commerce/Business related degree

Diploma in Insurance(AIIK/ACII)

Professional: Certificate of proficiency.

Desired work experience: 2 years working experience in insurance environment.
