Job Purpose Statement

The role of the engineer is to evaluate, implement and support the IT Infrastructure in line with
Bank’s Vision, ensuring infrastructure is available for the business continuity as well as manage data centre operations according to SLAs.
The role is also responsible for operational activities related to daily backup/restoration
activities and SAN storage infrastructure management.

The position also closely works with the Information security team to support on strategic initiatives related to planning and implementing policies and procedures to ensure backup/storage efficiency, capacity management performance, and related controls.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Server Infrastructure

Management of the Cloud Infrastructure, VMware, Hyper-V, and bare-metal servers, running multiple OS platforms

Server hardware support and maintenance in
collaboration with selected partners and vendors

Implementation of High Availability setups as well DR for bank systems

Manage projects related to enterprise infrastructure

Management of enterprise applications that relate to the daily operations of the bank.

Serve as an escalation point and/or backup for end-user issues

Management of documentation – SOPs, Inventory and architecture diagrams

Storage, Backup and Recovery Infrastructure

Implement the Storage, Backup and Recovery strategy in line with the Business Strategy.

Operationalize plans, designs, and implements Storage, Backup, and Recovery projects in accordance with Bank's requirements.

Support Storage, Backup, and Recovery architectural framework that is applicable throughout the organization

Evaluation and Test new Storage, Backup, and Recovery technology to support new products and services

Collaborate with personnel and contractors assigned to the department regarding maintenance, support, and upgrades performed on the Bank's infrastructure

Create strong relationships at the regional/global level within the IT community to ensure maximum leverage of resources/solutions to support local requirements.

Monitor Capacity and Performance of the group-wide storage and backup infrastructure to ensure optimum efficiency.

Plan for capacity, performance, and

service availability of all storage in line with business needs. Work with application/project teams and 3rd party partners to plan, design, and implement new storage infrastructure, to meet the existing and growing needs of the business.

Ensure proper change management, i.e., all changes to be done in a controlled process and environment with appropriate documentation

Security and Compliance

Implement backups and storage security policies and controls following Bank's requirements

Reviews configuration and schedule patch rollouts to ensure that any vulnerabilities are addressed

Compliance to regulatory policies

Business Continuity Planning

Assist in the development of a Business Continuity Plan utilizing the server and storage technology.

Support and participate in formulating and executing detailed Disaster recovery plans of Bank

Liaison with partners (where applicable) for the deployment of the BCP

Liaison with the other internal IT/business units for maintenance and deployment of the BCP.

Invoking and revoking disaster recovery of all systems.

Documentation

Actively seek to learn, grow, and stay abreast of current developments/trends in relevant technical/professional knowledge areas.

Ideal Job Specifications

Academic:

Bachelor of Computer Science degree or any other IT related field

Professional:

ITIL

MCSE

VMware

Server & Storage Administration Training.

Desired Work Experience:

5 years working experience
