Job Purpose Statement

Reporting to the Group Director, Marketing, Communications & Citizenship, the purpose of this
role is to implement and oversee communications programs both internal and external at NCBA Group, which effectively describe and promote the Group Leadership, Business, Corporate Brand and Product Portfolio. The role will ensure the NCBA Corporate Brand and Products messaging is consistent and engaging.

The main duties include preparing detailed media reports, creating informative content, press releases, articles, and media opportunities to share NCBA`s company’s brand communication plan, products, and services. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with brilliant presentation, relationship building, collaboration and organizational skills.

The role is directly accountable to deliver the following:

  • Strategy: Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build customer loyalty programs, brand awareness, and customer satisfaction.

  • Content: Create informative and functional press releases, press kits, newsletters, and related communication materials.

  • Project Management: Supervise internal and external projects to guarantee all communication content is publication-ready.

  • Agency Relationship: Manage the public relations agency day to day engagements including detailed media activity analysis.

  • Stakeholder Relationships: Facilitate build stakeholder relationships including media,
    private and public sector partnerships.

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Communication Strategy and Planning

  • Together with GD- MCC define the Short-term and Long-Term Communication Strategy for NCBA

  • Work with NCBA to develop Sustainability Strategy aligned with Business goals

  • Define and Implement annual activity communication plan calendarized by month for execution

  • Define performance metrics for communications

    Content Creation

  • Proactive media interviews and briefings with NCBA GMD and Group Directors to amplify activities

  • Generate NCBA activities press releases and publish

  • Generate speaking notes for Management at all NCBA engagements

  • Generate and publish opinion editorials to media

  • Generate Digital PR/blog articles for digital uploads

  • Generate and publish advisory blog articles around

  • Ensure press releases are uploaded on website/digital assets

  • Issues monitoring; Risk Assessment; Planning and
    Rapid Response PR

  • Generate holding statements/media rejoinders and manage narrative

    Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Executive profiling for GMD and Ex-Com

  • Local + regional media positioning NCBA Corporate brand as a thought leader in Industry

  • Organize quarterly internal and external stakeholder sessions to socialize NCBA Brand activities

  • Facilitate forums to engage Senior stakeholders and ensure ongoing strong relationships

    Learning and Growth

  • Continuous career and competence development

  • Continuous evaluation of the NCBA Group brand and portfolio communication activities (including publicity and communication analysis, communication plans, return on investment etc.).

  • Documenting learning’s and ensuring they are factored in the development of subsequent initiatives.

  • Coaching direct reports to continuously get the best output from everyone

    Ideal Job Specifications

  • A confident communicator and presenter

  • Strong writing, editing, proof reading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing
    skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Superior project management and time management skills

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media

  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management

    Ideal Job Specifications

    Desired Work Experience:

  • +10 years’ relevant experience - Managing communications and PR for an organization.

  • PR agency or Media House Press department agency experience an added advantage

  • An excellent planner and organizer with working proficiency in Project Management skills
