Job Purpose Statement

The IT Asset Manager is responsible for the effective management of the organization's IT assets throughout their lifecycle. This role involves overseeing the acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement of IT assets, ensuring
compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

The IT Asset Manager must be able to work collaboratively with various departments, vendors, and stakeholders to optimize the value and performance of IT assets while minimizing costs and risks. The role develops policies for implementation based on the ITIL framework, designed to ensure consistently high effective and efficient management in all aspects of best IT Asset Management practices.

Key Result Areas

Asset Management

  • Ensure up to date inventory of all IT
    Hardware & Software assets and ensure they are handled with a lot of integrity, transparency and very professional at all times.

  • Ensure updated configuration of CIs

  • Maintain records / databases composed
    of information regarding licenses, warranties, and service agreements for the organizations IT Hardware Assets.

  • Manage software library and hardware
    assets through Remedy asset management console, as well as address incidents and request tickets.

  • Plan, monitor and keep record of software licenses and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.

  • Maintain processes for proper
    provisioning, re -purposing and disposals of hardware assets.

  • Lead physical inventory asset audit
    planning initiative to ensure compliance with policy and standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all government
    regulations regarding property accountability.

  • Review equipment configurations to
    ensure compliance with applicable procedures.

  • Populate and maintain software license
    inventory on a web -based database to ensure compliance with product use rights and proper distribution.

  • Monitor the life cycle of all ICT assets
    from procurement to disposal via the asset management database.

  • Drive database software upgrades, and
    mass deployments of new computer equipment.

  • Review Asset list and maintain Asset Configuration Items (CIs) in the Asset
    Management database and/or Remedy and/or a successor.

  • Maintain the asset management database containing all the information necessary for the lifecycle of an ICT asset.

  • Develop, maintain, and modify
    asset/inventory management processes and procedures to continually improve asset /inventory management.

  • Ensure IT asset database is updated
    accurately through our inventory management system.

  • Assist in inventory management, procurement and shipment activities.

  • Inventory management of asset control
    room.

  • Reviewing and improving
    initiatives.  Cost Saving.

  • Develop and implement an IT asset management strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives

  • Monitor and manage the financial and operational performance of IT assets to ensure they meet or exceed established targets.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize the use
    and performance of IT assets, such as software license optimization, hardware consolidation, and vendor contract renegotiation.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies
    and external regulations related to IT asset management, such as software license agreements and data privacy laws.

  • Manage the acquisition, deployment, and retirement of IT assets, ensuring they are properly configured, secured, and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including IT teams and auditors.

  • Provide regular reports on the performance of IT assets to senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Stay up -to -date with industry trends and
    best practices in IT asset management.

  • Any other duties as may be assigned by
    the supervisor

    Save Cost

  • Ensure that no unnecessary
    procurement is done.

  • Perform frequent inventory review as will be requested.

  • Clear records of Assets being held

    Leadership

  • Provide leadership and guidance.

  • Development of direct reports by increasing their skills through on the job training and coaching.

  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources.

  • Implement a succession plan for the unit.

    Ideal Person Specifications

    Academic qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

    Professional training

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field.

  • ITIL Foundation would be an added advantage.

    Desired work experience:

  • Adequate understanding of the various banking business systems and computer operations processes.

  • Demonstrable experience working in a professional IT environment.

  • Sound knowledge of Information technology.

  • Exposure to Vendor and Assets Management
