14. National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation Driver I Jobs in Kenya - 1 Post - Ref: DI/5/14/2017

The position is responsible to the Administration Officer II for provision of driving duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Driving Commission’s vehicles as authorized;

Reporting need for repairs and service of the assigned vehicle when due;

Cleaning the assigned vehicle regularly;

Maintain updated work ticket;

Checking the assigned vehicle’s condition and fuelling it before travelling;

Ensuring security to the assigned passengers, commission’s vehicle and goods on transit;

Reporting any accidents to police and the office immediately they occur;

Carrying only authorized passengers and/or goods;

Ensuring safe custody of the assigned vehicle keys.

Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:

Minimum of KCSE D+

A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;

Passed Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers;

Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association(AA)of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

Attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;

Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;

Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1)week from St. Johns John Ambulance or Kenya Institute Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT)or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

Demonstrated professional competence in driving as reflected in work performance and results; and

A minimum period of three (3) years’ experience.

Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one(1)week at St.John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;

passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;

Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department;

A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and

At least two (2) years driving experience.
