Scope of WorkUnder the supervision of the Social Media Manager, the Community Manager will be the first point of contact with the followers and influencers, thus developing an intimate relationship with the online community. They will be responsible for aligning all communications, PR, social media, and marketing content to create a strong brand identity.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement:Actively engage with online audiences through Nalafem digital channels: Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp, LinkedIn, Facebook.
Manage and facilitate social media communities by responding to social media posts and developing discussions as well as communicating with followers, responding to queries in a timely manner and monitoring reviews.
Engage in conversations wherever Nalafem is mentioned or where there is a comment on Nalafem pages
Keep the Nala community abreast of updates and happenings by reposting/sharing content related to: council activities, grants and grantee activities, opportunities, webinars or special events etc
Strategy Development
Develop and implement a community management strategy & build the brand visibility of Nalafem
Gather and relay community feedback to refine engagement strategies.
Support in implementing the overall social media strategy to increase engagement and followers.
Brand Visibility and Growth
Grow Nalafem’s social media following through various community engagement strategies by 30-40% in 6 months.
Organize various community-building initiatives to cultivate and grow participation in community forums.
Analytics and Reporting:
Conduct regular analysis of community metrics.
Generate detailed reports on community growth and engagement.
Platform- Specific duties
Facebook
Create and expand a Facebook group dedicated to gender information and discussions, fostering a supportive community.
Actively promote Nalafem's Facebook page and group as authoritative sources for gender-related information in Africa.
Generate awareness for facebook page and group as the credible platforms for gender information in Africa.
Work to increase the number of likes and followers of the Facebook page by at least 50% from the initial notice date.
Create and implement campaigns to generate engagement and trust among social media users
Identify and interact with other active social media communities to support and extend the reach of ongoing campaigns.
Regularly provide timely and relevant content tailored to current events and seasonal themes, ensuring it resonates with the audience.
Twitter (X)
Actively manage the Nalafem Twitter community by responding to queries, moderating and removing spam comments, and refining tweet content to maintain a high-quality, informative presence.
Organize and facilitate monthly Twitter Spaces on topics relevant to Nalafem's mission and community growth, encouraging dialogue and engagement among followers.
Strategically promote Nalafem's Twitter handle as a trusted source for gender-related information in Africa, enhancing its credibility and reach.
Develop and execute creative Twitter campaigns to boost the account's visibility and increase follower engagement.
Aim to increase the Twitter follower count by at least 30% from the start date, tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
Whatsapp
Actively foster a supportive and interactive community by initiating and moderating discussions, sharing relevant updates, and engaging members in dialogue to
create a vibrant group atmosphere.
Disseminate important announcements, articles, and resources relevant to the community's interests. Ensure that content shared is timely, accurate, and aligns with Nalafem’s mission and objectives.
Oversee the addition and vetting of new members to ensure they align with the community’s goals and values.
Manage member lists and maintain an organized, respectful, and safe environment.
Regularly solicit and compile feedback from group members. Use this information to gauge the community's needs and preferences, informing future strategies and activities.
Share information about upcoming Nalafem events, webinars, and initiatives. Facilitate discussions post-event to gather insights and encourage ongoing engagement.
Linkedin
Establish Nalafem’s LinkedIn groups, creating a platform for discussions and networking focused on gender equality and women's empowerment in Africa.
Actively engage group members by initiating and facilitating relevant discussions.
Implement strategies to grow membership with professionals interested in Nalafem’s mission.
Gather and implement member feedback to enhance group engagement and experience.
Foster professional connections among members and engage key opinion leaders to amplify Nalafem’s impact.
Utilize the group to promote Nalafem’s events and initiatives for maximum participation.
Manage conflicts within the group, ensuring interactions align with Nalafem’s standards
Collaborate with Nalafem’s social media team for consistent messaging across platforms.
Share relevant resources and opportunities beneficial to group members.
Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrated experience and track record in social media management and content creation;
Knowledge of relevant influencers and previous experience in engaging influencers to promote content;
Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and Tiktok;
Good copywriting, proofreading and editing skills;
Ability to create, compose and edit written materials;
Ability to write simply with a conversational style;
Ability to deliver creative content: text, image and video;
Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration in a virtual environment;
Strong ability to manage time and meet established deadlines, deliverables and milestones;
Identification with NalaFEM vision and mission;
Flexibility and capacity to collaborate across teams;
Understanding of digital platforms and familiarity with remote working environments specifically Slack, Asana, including adaptability with different time zones;
Fluent in English (written and spoken);
Fluent in English (written and spoken) and one more language (French, Arabic, Kiswahili will be an advantage)
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to write and produce documents under tight deadlines.
Willingness and ability to travel whenever necessary
