FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Multimedia University of Kenya Lecturer - Statistics Job Opportunities
Grade MAC 12 – Ref: MMU/EA/05/04/2018
Responsibilities
Lecturing specific units of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
Participating in review and preparation of training courses, programmes and schemes of work;
Assessing student’s performance and preparing students progress reports;
Carrying out research work in relevant field or specialization; and
Assisting in conducting seminars/workshops or symposia and coordinate courses.
Coordinating of course, project and practical work;
Preparing teaching/learning materials;
Setting and marking examination/ assignments;
Maintaining discipline in lecture rooms/halls;
Developing proposals to attract research grants.
Writing journal articles and books;
Presenting academic papers in seminars/workshops or symposia;
Peer-reviewing of publications to in academic journals;
Developing and reviewing academic programmes/curricula;
Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students.
Develop linkages and collaborations for student exchange programs; and
Undertaking consultancy services.
Qualifications
Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer
Grade MAC 12 MUST be holders of the
following qualifications, relevant work experience and publications as indicated below:-
PhD in Statistics from recognized or accredited university; Masters of Science in
Statistics and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or Bachelor of Education with
Major in Mathematics (Second Class Upper Division); all three from recognized
accredited institutions;
Should have 3 years teaching experience in a University serving in the capacity of
an Assistant Lecturer or Tutorial Fellow;
A minimum of 24 publication points, sixteen (16) of which should be from refereed
journal papers;
Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution;
Be registered by relevant Professional Body (where applicable); and
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

[Grade MAC 15 – Ref: MMU/EA/06/04/2018
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate of the formulation and implementation of policies for the Department
Coordinate and preparation of annual departmental budgets and procurement plans.
Coordinate and preparation of annual work plans.
Coordinate the Department staff performance appraisal
Enforce discipline and rules that govern students on a daily basis.
Oversee provision of students counseling services in the University
Oversee students elections
Ensure smooth running of the Students Council.
Identify sources of funds for needy students
To perform such other duties as shall be assigned or delegated from time to
time.
Qualifications
PhD degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya.
At least five (5) years administrative experience, three (3) of which as Deputy
Dean of Students Grade MNT14 or its equivalent.
Have outstanding professional competence in administration or Management.
Member of a recognized professional administration or management body
Computer Literacy
OR
Masters Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent from an
institution recognized in Kenya or Equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya.
At least ten (10) years administration experience, three (3) of which as Deputy
