MTN Coordinator - Roaming, Wholesale and Carrier Services Jobs in Uganda

Main Purpose:

Responsible for all commercial wholesale activities related to international partners for MTN Uganda including launching new networks and partners where needed based on countries’ needs, optimize the business and get synergy benefits from MTN Uganda international roaming activities.

Responsible for all negotiations of international and national roaming relations, discounts and wholesale roaming strategy for MTN Uganda. Strategizes to maximize roaming revenue and reduce roaming cost while driving effective operational excellence through steering of roaming traffic to low tariff partners with the required standard services.

Main Job Functions:

Managing commercial arrangements and relationships for roaming, to ensure competitive (IOTS) Inter operator tariffs are favorable for own subscribers and visitors.

Liaison with international roaming partners and service providers like Nextgen, MTN Group and BICS of a roaming relationship on a daily basis leading to the selection of new roaming partners.

Responsible for the review all contract offers and Initiate negotiations of international roaming relations, discounts and wholesale roaming strategy for MTN Uganda.

Develop successful commercial and business models/formulas to grow roaming and data business
Monitoring of retail tariffs and margins against wholesale cost or actual IOT inter-operator tariffs to enable the definition of wholesale thresholds or volume tiers per subscriber that can be agreed with our wholesale partners, to allow them to rollout retail roaming promotions and bundles. Review and quality assure tariff / pricing strategy on all commercial / retail and roaming tariff regimes

Identify and prevent Roaming Fraud with NRTRDE. Protect and support the identification of potentially fraudulent behavior at early stages through near-real-time roaming data exchange (NRTRDE). HURS, BICS Fraud reports, traffic trends and tap file flow

Assurance and reconciliation of Roaming bills against IOT and retail price to ensure that all usage is correctly and comprehensively billed

Guide and manage Roaming steering through Verification of Subscribers' roaming traffic volume (minutes of usage) and determine Routes and advise on steering international traffic to partners with higher quality of service and lower inter-operator tariffs -IOTs

Responsible for the Margin analysis on total wholesale cost against total revenue generated.

Oversee and confirm the end-to-end TAP process; tap file generation and transfer

of files to DCH and from DCH to MTN Uganda, enable focus on creating innovative roaming offers, rather than on actual managing of the data.

Settlement and Invoicing to ensure transparency and traceability for all transactions providing a clear, actionable view of each stage of the clearing and settlement process, including easy approval or rejection of invoices, credits/debits notes, and payments. Cross-cycle netting payments between carriers, balancing receipts and payments over time

Roaming Data management and assurance from roaming accruals, invoicing, payments reconciliations settlement and reporting. All partner communication, contracts, services, queries disputes and resolutions

Cooperate closely with cross functional teams and provide input to overall strategic direction.

Coordinate all activities within Marketing Business Intelligence function to ensure alignment, integration of effort and minimize duplications and conflicts

Coordinate all roaming related projects, liaising with engineering teams for fault resolution, capacity planning, relevant technical standards, internally with all cross functional teams in technical, IT, Customer Service, Sales, Revenue Assurance, Revenue reporting and MTN Group, hubs and clearing Houses and all roaming partner networks and IOTS.

Education:

Bachelors in management, Computing, Commerce or business degree preferably Management and accounting

Postgraduate degree in Business Administration / Statistics, Management or Related field

Experience:

3 years’ experience in the Telecom Industry

Experience in in roaming or roaming related activities

A minimum of two years’ experience in reporting, data analysis and financial modelling

Experience in Business analysis

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Telecom principles; International Carrier settlement, Traffic Routing and wholesale Relationships.

Business Analysis and Data Management

Reporting and performance analysis

Customer Relationships Management

Excellent organisational skills

Strong Excel and reporting skills, including modelling and visual basis.

Group accounting policies and procedures

Understanding of reporting and planning processes

Understanding of Group Carrier services process
