MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda research Unit Nursing Officer Jobs in Uganda

Job Purpose

To mobilize the study participants, administer study questionnaires, conduct physical measurements and performance tests and to draw blood from study participants through a finger prick.

Will also provide care to participants with simple illnesses and refer those who may need referral.

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide education and awareness to study participants and communities;

Administer the study information sheet and consent forms to study participants;

Administer study questionnaire to study participants;

Administer Investigational agent to study participants and perform clinical procedures;

Provide basic medical care to study participants;

Perform finger pricks and prepare dried blood Spots as per study protocol;

Track laboratory results and take appropriate action;

Offer relevant health education to the study participants;

Provide counselling to clients when needed;

Transport the DBS to the laboratory as per study protocol;

Ensure proper documentation and adherence to the study protocol; and,

Perform any other duty assigned by the PI or Project Leader.

Person Specification

Diploma in Nursing/comprehensive;

Degree qualifications in Nursing is desired;

Short courses on research methods, geriatrics training, GCP training, counselling is an added advantage;

At least 3 years’ experience in clinical and research setting;

Possession of counselling skills is an added advantage;

Communication skills with good of English and Luganda; and,

User knowledge in computer applications.
