Mpigi District Local Government Education Officer (Special Needs) Jobs in Uganda

Job Purpose

To implement the special needs education policies, plans and programmes.

Key Outputs

Learners with special educational needs identified and enrolled;

Work plans and Budgets prepared;

Special needs education reports produced;

Teachers of learners with special educational needs trained;

Supportive devices for children with special educational needs availed;

Learners with unique special educational needs referred for further help;

Communities mobilised and sensitised about the value of special needs education;

Collaboration with key stakeholders coordinated;

Counselling, guidance and Support supervision to teachers and school management committees
of learners with special needs provided; and

Monitoring reports prepared.

Key Functions

Identifying and enrolling children with special educational needs into schools;

Preparing work plans and budgets;

Producing reports on special needs education;

Training teachers of children with special educational needs;

Collaborating and coordinating with other stakeholders to acquire supportive devices for
children with special educational needs;

Referring learners with unique educational needs for further help;

Mobilising and sensitising Communities in support of

special needs education;

Identifying and opening up links for children with special needs; and

Providing counselling, guidance and support supervision to teachers and management of
children with special needs.

Person Specifications

Qualifications

Should hold an Honours Bachelors Degree with Education with a bias in Special Needs Education
from a recognized university or institution.

Competences

• Negotiation and mediation;

• Planning, organizing and coordinating;

• Guidance and counseling

• Communication; and

• Time management.
