Education, Skills and Experience

Must have:

PhD in relevant area of specialization.

Must be a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K)

3 years’ experience in the financial divisional unit (Grade 12) within MKU or in a similar position in a recognized academic institution

Registered member of ICPAK.
OR

Master’s degree in Business with specialization in Accounting/Finance or its equivalent.

Must

be a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K)

5 years’ experience at senior finance position Grade 12 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized institution

Registered member of ICPAK

Possession of Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) will be an added advantage

Reporting to: Principal Finance Officer

Duties and responsibilities:

Deputize the Principal Finance Officer

Staff supervision in the Directorate.

Approval of all financial documents i.e. Invoices, payment vouchers, imprests etc. before payments are done.

Preparation of timely reports on financial performance on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Overseeing preparation of the University year end final accounts and statements.

Overseeing preparation and consolidation of annual University Budget Estimates.

Ensure compliance with all statutory bodies, timely filling of returns and timely payments.

Preparation of weekly payments schedule for discussion and approval by the Finance Directorate Steering Committee.

Review of all sections reports before they are tabled/ submitted to the relevant authorities.
