MKU invites applications from suitably qualified, visionary, competent, dynamic and experienced professionals with impeccable track record to fill the following position.

Education, Skills and Experience

Must have:

  • PhD in relevant area of specialization.

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K)

  • 3 years’ experience in the financial divisional unit (Grade 12) within MKU or in a similar position in a recognized academic institution

  • Registered member of ICPAK.
    OR

  • Master’s degree in Business with specialization in Accounting/Finance or its equivalent.

  • Must
    be a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K)

  • 5 years’ experience at senior finance position Grade 12 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized institution

  • Registered member of ICPAK

  • Possession of Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) will be an added advantage

    Reporting to: Principal Finance Officer

    Duties and responsibilities:

  • Deputize the Principal Finance Officer

  • Staff supervision in the Directorate.

  • Approval of all financial documents i.e. Invoices, payment vouchers, imprests etc. before payments are done.

  • Preparation of timely reports on financial performance on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

  • Overseeing preparation of the University year end final accounts and statements.

  • Overseeing preparation and consolidation of annual University Budget Estimates.

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory bodies, timely filling of returns and timely payments.

  • Preparation of weekly payments schedule for discussion and approval by the Finance Directorate Steering Committee.

  • Review of all sections reports before they are tabled/ submitted to the relevant authorities.
