5. Moi University Senior Quantity Surveyor Jobs in Kenya - Scale 13 (1 Position) MU/ADM/4/2/2017
Job DescriptionDuties and responsibilities will involve co-ordination, checking and approval of Bills of quantities and
specifications, direction and control of Contract Administration of construction project which entails,
inter alia, evaluation of payments up to Final Accounts. Additional duties include reporting on contractual claims from contractors, resolution of disputes and liaison with the office of the University Legal Officer on cases requiring Litigation, Arbitration or other means of resolving disputes.
Control and Implementation of Tendering and Procurement Procedures for all construction projects which entails the supervision of preparation of tender documents for main and specialist works, tender evaluations and recommendations to Council for approval and preparation of cost analysis for various types of buildings or other civil works.
Job Specification for Serving Officersserved in the grade of Quantity Surveyor for a minimum of three (3) years;
been registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya;
shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
served for three (3) years for those with Master Degree, and five (5) years for those without a Master Degree
Job Specification for Direct Appointment
A Master degree of Arts in Building Economics from a recognized University
Thorough knowledge of the computer, particularly in quantity surveying packages
Current registration by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity surveyors of
Kenya.
Served a large firm/organization, preferably government, as a registered Quantity Surveyor for not less than six (6) years.
Served in administrative or supervisory position for not less than three (3) years.
demonstrated competence, ability in work performance and results.
Wide experience in the field of Quantity Surveying in formulation, implementation and control in tendering and procurement procedures, financial and contract administration of building construction and maintenance.
In addition to the qualifications set out in the constitution and the enabling statutes, the applicants for both serving officers and direct appointment, must meet the requirements of Chapter six of Kenya
Constitution by providing relevant certificates from the following bodies:-
- Director, Ethics an Antis corruption Commission (EACC)
- Commissioner General, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Chief Executive Officer, Higher Education Loan Bard (HELB)
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Credit Reference Bureau African Ltd or Metropol Credit reference Bureau.
- Professional Bodies (where applicable) to which the applicant belong.

6. Moi University Clerk of Works Jobs in Kenya - Scale 9/10 (1 Position) MU/ADM/5/2/2017
Moi University intends to construct several buildings at its Bomet Campus, Bomet County:- 1 No. Library block ( 4-storey), 2 No Hostel blocks ( 4 – storey), 1 No Dining/ Multi-purpose hall (single story), 1 lecture hall block ( 3 storey) and related civil works.
The university now wants to engage a qualified Clerk of Works on contract basis for 2 ½ years whose duty will be daily supervision of the construction works on site.
Applicants are therefore invited from candidates who must:
Be in possession of Kenya Certificate of Education mean grade of C plain or Division II, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Physical Science.
Have a National Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering awarded by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
Have worked with a large organization, preferably, Government or Government Institution for a minimum period of years.
Have attached an overall experience of a minimum of 10 years since obtaining the Diploma.
Have a thorough knowledge of computer, particularly Architectural and Civil/ Structural Engineering packages.
Prospective candidate must include in their CVs lists of projects they have supervised from inception to completion, give names of clients, address and cell phone numbers, contract sums of the projects and completion certificates duly signed by the project Architects.
