Job Purpose:Evaluate and update various department protocols required for all nutrition programs and review all standards and provide recommendation to various feeding formulas.
Evaluate all food interactions and coordinate with all food service personnel to provide optimal patient care and analyze all health data and resolve health related issues.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for deputy Manager Nutrition and Dietetics include;
Formulating, implementing, and reviewing of policies, procedures and guidelines.
Planning, organizing and coordinating programmes in the Hospital and providing nutrition advice support.
Overseeing and participating in the coordination of nutrition assessments involving all aspects of medical nutrition therapy and interventions.
Coordinating and integrating with other hospital departments to provide the best possible patient care.
Evaluate performance and competence of nutrition staff on an ongoing basis, ensuring that the staff is competent to provide medical nutrition services.
Providing innovative, preventive, and curative nutrition services to inpatients and outpatients.
Initiating and reviewing nutrition programmes.
Providing guidelines on supplemental and therapeutic diets for existing and emerging diseases for Hospital use.
Developing nutrition information, education, promotion and communication materials.
Providing nutrition consultancy support.
Developing specialized diets for special needs.
Providing nutrition services in specialized clinics.
Planning and preparing Hospital menus.
Facilitating training.
Conducting, monitoring and evaluating infant and young child feeding programmes.
Conducting research on nutrition and dietetics and preparing reports.
Developing nutrition guidelines.
Attending Doctors' ward rounds and giving technical advice.
Conducting data audits in the Hospital.
Guiding on specifications and procurement and distribution of nutrition equipment and supplies; and
Preparing reports.
Minimum Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work with at least four (4) years' experience in a supervisory position.
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and
Dietetics or its equivalent field from a recognized institution.
Master's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or its equivalent field from a recognized institution.
Registration by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute.
Valid 2022 Practising License by Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Leadership/Management Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated professional competence and administrative capability.
