The position is responsible for providing leadership and management for the school while ensuring holistic transformation of the learners through provision of high quality education, spiritual formation, basic health care and psychosocial support.

Duties and responsibilities:
School Management
Ensure implementation of the overall education strategies and program plans for the school
Implement and monitor annual action plans in collaboration with the Regional Education Coordinator.
Support the overall budgeting and manage the budget implementation and monitoring process for the School
Maintain a cost effective system of running the school to meet the set targets of labour, equipment and materials.
Ensure school programs are running smoothly, efficiently and effectively on a day to day basis for both curricular and co-curricular activities
Maintain and secure all school records.
Ensure proper use of all school assets in the school/centre while maintaining up to date asset register.
Administration of the School Curriculum
Set and maintain high academic standards in line with the MOHI education policies.
Ensure proper allocation of subjects so as to ensure that well-balanced education is provided.
Ensure use of Ministry of Education academic circulars and directives
Teach reasonable number of lessons
Organizing the teaching and non-teaching staff
Ensure teamwork and delegate duties and responsibilities among teaching and non-teaching staff (e.g. social workers, librarians, school IT staff, security officers) while maintaining the overall supervision.
Take lead in setting measurable standards in all areas of operations of the school.
Ensure use of timetable, schedules and other mechanisms for controlling time during lessons and activities.
Ensure constant training of staff in line with changes in the curriculum and other developments.
Ensure that teachers attend to all their lessons in a timely manner.
Ensure staff adherence to professional code of ethics.
Organize induction activities for new staff.
Maintenance of Academic and other mandatory school records
Set up systems and procedures to be followed in the school in regard to record keeping.
Ensuring that class attendance records are maintained and monitoring of staff and pupils’ attendance and punctuality.
Keep proper documentation system in place e.g. syllabus, schemes, records or work, pupils’ records and staff records.
Ensure consistent school and class attendance of all pupils and ensure social workers follow up absenteeism cases.
Evaluation and approval of staff plans
Prepare annual plans of action in timely manner.
Review both short and long term plans of teachers.
Conduct performance appraisal for the staff and make specific recommendation.
Ensure proper allocation of teachers to classes and subjects.
Knowing teachers’ qualification and interest and distributing responsibilities accordingly.
Checking of the professional records and ensuring the records are in use.
School Fees Collection
Ensure collection of approved monies through the set channels and receipting of the same.
Ensure proper record keeping of the revenue collected.
Ensure periodic reconciliation of all financial transactions done at the school/center.
Communication and public relations functions
Ensure timely and accurate information is communicated to the students, parents and other stakeholders.
Champion the MOHI brand (DNA) in the school, community and other government forums.
Discipline of staff and students
Ensure implementation of the classroom
management strategies i.e teaching with love and logic, Positive Behavior Support and Teachers Expectations Students Achievement (TESA).
Ensure total Adherence to the MOHI Child Protection & Safety Policy (CPSP).
Support the development and implementation of school rules and regulations
Ensure staff and children understand the school rules and discipline procedures and their responsibility towards achieving a high level of discipline and academic performance.
Ensure the enforcement of discipline to staff and students on school rules and regulation.
Establish strong discipline committee, prefects’ body and a guidance and counseling department.
Ensure rules and regulations are updated as need may arise.
Ensure the class and school rules are strictly followed.
Promote teaching of life skills at classroom level as per the curriculum.
Ensure regular inspection of pupils’/students’ lockers/boxes/bags/dormitories to eliminate contraband, non permitted, stolen items in and out of school and writing monthly reports per class and report to the Regional Education Officer.
General Administration Duties
Ensure proper management of the school feeding programme
Ensure that all pupils are in the right school uniform and are neat and well kempt.
Visit all rooms and facilities regularly to asses their conditions.
Oversee the maintenance of the buildings.
Carry out needs assessment and request for additional facilities as need may arise from time to time
Ensuring orderliness in the school compound at all times
Health and Safety
Ensure the safety, security, health and welfare of pupils and staff
Secretary to the PTA, BOM
Organizing for PTA and BOM meetings
Taking PTA and BOM minutes.
Link between the teachers, PTA and BOM members.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors Degree in Education with 5 years’ experience in an education institution.
A certificate / Diploma in Leadership, Guidance and Counseling or any other relevant course
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Ability to analyze data, to evaluate the performance of pupil groups, pupil progress and plan an appropriate course of action for whole school improvement.
Ability to lead and manage a school team/s to successfully achieve agreed goals.
Ability to develop and deliver effective and inspirational professional development for staff (including mentoring and coaching as appropriate).
Communicate effectively to a wide range of different audiences (verbal, written, using ICT as appropriate).
Demonstrate high quality teaching strategies.
Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and other compliance requirements.
Decision making and conflict resolution skills
Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
