Overall Function

The Department of Public Health at Miva Open University invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Public Health, hold a Ph.D. in the relevant field, and be passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
This is a full-time faculty position with a primary focus on undergraduate education.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching:

Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in Public Health.

Create engaging and innovative teaching materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments.

Provide guidance and mentorship to students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Community Development:

Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Public Health curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry trends and best practices.

Collaborate with colleagues to create new courses and update existing ones to reflect emerging technologies and research.

Research and Scholarship:

Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations, in areas related to Public Health.

Encourage and support undergraduate student research and projects.

Academic Advising:

Advise and mentor undergraduate students on academic and career-related matters.

Assist students in developing educational and career plans.

Service and Committee Work:

Participate actively in departmental meetings, committees, and other service-related activities.

Contribute to the academic and professional community through university service and outreach.

Assist in student recruitment and outreach activities.

Qualifications and Skills

A Ph.D. in Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Strong commitment to undergraduate education and a

passion for teaching.

Proven teaching experience in Public Health courses at the undergraduate level.

A record of scholarly activity, which may include publications, conference presentations, or equivalent.

Experience with online and blended learning platforms.

Familiarity with industry standards and trends in Public Health.

Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and assessment.

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students in a diverse academic environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
