Minimum Qualification

  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Natural Sciences; or Forestry; or Environment; or Environmental Science; or Agriculture; or Botany/Zoology from a recognized University/Institution and a Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University/Institution. A post graduate qualification in Management and or Administration will be an added advantage

    Working Experience

  • Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at Principal Officer level in Government

    Duties

    The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner, Forestry Sector Support Services for performing the following duties:-

  • Supporting formulation, review and oversight of national policies, legislations, strategies and plans for effective management of forestry management;

  • Supporting setting of guidelines and national standards on forestry management;

  • Supporting coordination and supervision of technical support and training to Local Government Officials;

  • Overseeing the National Forest Authority’s performance in forestry sector development;

  • Supporting the coordination, inspection, monitoring and evaluation of the
    performance of the various actors in forestry management, including Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA);

  • Supporting inspection, monitoring and evaluation of Local Government Forestry Services for effective implementation of national policies, plans and strategies on forestry development;

  • Coordinating and supervising the National Forest Plan (NFP) and cross-sectoral linkages (Projects, Programmes and Plans);

  • Supporting promotion of public information and advocacy for the forestry sector

  • Liaising and participating in Regional and International programmes on forestry development.;

  • Any other duties that may assigned from time to time.
