Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Principal Data Networks Engineer Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in either Electronic Engineering; or Electrical Engineering; or Telecommunications Engineering; or Communications Engineering; plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management; or Management; or in any of the above related field of training from a recognized University / Institution. Applicants should be registered with the Engineers Registration Board.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience in the ICT sector, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Senior Data Networks Engineer in Government or an equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Data Networks Engineering for performing the following duties:-

Monitoring utilization and use of the Public ICT infrastructure by both public and private institutions;

Monitoring and evaluating performance of Internet Exchange points countrywide;

Monitoring and evaluating development of Data Networks on the Public Postal network;

Monitoring and evaluating operation of Public Data Centres;

Providing technical support to stakeholders in implementation of legislations; policies, plans and strategies on data networks,

Generating reports on Data Networks from Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments so as to inform development of Policies, Standards and Guidelines;

Providing technical support to the Public Postal network in order to ensure it fully benefits from Public ICT infrastructure it supports;

Providing technical support to Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments in implementation of emerging Data Network technology including availability requirements as well as capacity management;

Providing technical support to Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments in implementation of Institutional ICT Policies, standards and guidelines;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
