Introduction The Government of the Republic of Uganda received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the implementation of the Uganda Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Services Improvement Project (URMCHIP).
The Projects are implemented through the existing institutional arrangements of Government whereby the respective Departments at Ministry of Health and other Government Parastatals are responsible for implementation of the respective components of the Projects.
The Government wishes to engage the services of suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions indicated below. .
Scope of the Assignment and Key ResponsibilitiesThe Health Promotion Advisor will carry out the following duties:
Plan and initiate strategies and programs for health education and promotion of health at local, regional or national levels with focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health services (RMNCAH).
Lead the process of promoting health awareness of individuals, groups, organizations and communities and empower them to make healthy choices in the field of RMNCAH.
Develop, implement, and evaluate patient/client education programs by conducting needs assessments.
Lead the process of developing health education and promotion materials for creating awareness, knowledge and demand for RMNCAH supplies and services.
Support the formulation of effective communication channels, mechanisms and strategies to create demand for RMNCAH services
Select, adapt, and individualize patient education intormation for the general public by evaluating available brochures, printed materials, video tapes, and external resources in light of the age, cuffure, information technology, religious practices, and language for RMNCAH
issues.
Assess existing RMNCAH health education and promotion materials
and recommend the most appreciate for adoption.
Generate ideas and approaches to solving RMNCAH public health challenges through innovative health education and promotion initiatives.
Identify future sustainable health promotion requirements in consultation with key stakeholders for promotion of RMNCAH issues in the country.
Identify and interpret emerging trends in RMNCAH public health andprovide information, analysis, and interpretation to stakeholders and community partners using innovative education and promotion materials
Support the Health Promotion and Education, and the Maternal and Child Health Departments to run community trainings on preventative and promote health care

Qualifications and Competences
Must possess a Master's degree in any of the following areas:
Health Promotion, Health Communication, Health Education and Public Health.
Experience of seven (07) years in planning, implementation and designing of Health Promotion interventions.
Should demonstrate experience working with adolescents/young people especially on health programming.
Knowledge of Ministry of Health structures and its key stakeholders in promoting RMNCAH issues will be an added advantage.
S/he should have a positive professional reputation, and strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
