Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Principal Fisheries Inspector - Enforcement Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries;

Zoology;

or Aquatic Biology;

Science plus a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields from a recognized University /Institution.

Working Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience in the field of Fisheries Management, three (3) of which should have been at Senior Fisheries Officer level in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Enforcement for performing the following duties:

Coordinating development, implementation and reviewing of fisheries enforcement policies, legislations, regulations, standards, plans and strategies for the fisheries control;

Regulating and controlling fishing on all water bodies in the country;

Sanctioning fishing vessels and gears in all public water bodies including entry and exit points;

Providing technical advice, guidance and support supervision on all fisheries enforcement activities including Monitoring Control and Surveillance;

Liaising and collaborating with all other Institutions that engage and participate in fisheries enforcement activities;

Sensitizing and creating awareness on fisheries enforcement legislations, regulations and standards;

Building capacity of the enforcement officers;

Establishing and operationalising collaborative mechanisms with National, Regional and International Organisations on fisheries enforcement;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
