Ministry of Agriculture - Animal & Fisheries Assistant Commissioner - Seed Certification and Inspection Jobs in Uganda

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture; Agricultural Economics plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above fields from a recognized University/ Institution.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience in handling issues of pest disease control in plants and crop management, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Agricultural Officer in Government or from a reputable organization.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner Crop Inspection and Certification for performing the following duties:

Providing technical guidance in formulation, reviewing and implementation of seed policies, legislation, regulations, standards, plans and strategies;

Enforcing legislation, regulations and standards on seeds;

Creating awareness on seeds legislation and regulations;

Establishing and maintaining seed analytical laboratories;

Establishing and operationalising collaborative mechanisms with national, regional and international organizations on technology generation, standard setting, regulation and certification of seeds;

Establishing and maintaining database on regulation and certification of seeds;

Training and gazetting Agriculture Inspectors;

Preparing work plans, budgets and performance reports and submitting to relevant authorities for further action;

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
