Microfinance Bank Teller / Cashier Jobs in Kenya

Our client, a leading Microfinance Bank with presence in several counties in Kenya is seeking for:

Position:

  • Teller / Cashier

    Job Purpose:
  • To accurately and efficiently process and record routine transactions for bank customers including cashing cheques, accepting deposits and withdrawals, processing loan payments and money transfers.

    Main duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide services to customers by receiving deposits, cashing checks; issuing savings withdrawals
  • Reconcile cash drawer by proving and validating cash transactions, counting and packaging currency and coins, reconciling loan coupons, turning in excess cash and mutilated currency to head teller and maintaining supply of cash and currency.
  • Receive and count working cash at the beginning of each shift
  • Record all transactions promptly, accurately and in compliance with bank procedures.
  • Balance currency, cash and cheques in cash drawer at end of each shift
  • Perform specialized tasks such as preparing cashier’s cheques, personal money orders, issuing traveler’s cheques and exchanging foreign currency
  • Receive and verify loan payments, mortgage payments and utility bill payments
  • Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products
  • Initiate and open new accounts
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls and established policies and procedures.

    Key qualifications and requirements
  • Fresh graduates with a relevant degree from a recognized University
  • Minimum of grade B-minus in KCSE and C+ in Mathematics
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Accuracy and Attention to detail
  • Strong numerical ability
