PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:Mercy Corps has been operating in Uganda since 2006 and works to catalyze change makers within the Ugandan private sector, civil society and government to create economically dynamic, healthy and secure communities. Our works focus on building resilience and enable economic growth, improve opportunities to attain better health and nutrition, and improved governance and conflict management. We implement programs in the northern districts of Pader, Kitgum, Agago, Lamwo, Kaabong, Abim and Kotido with funding from USAID, USDA, Walmart Foundation, SDC, DFID as well as other private donations.
ResponsibilitiesConduct trainings and provide technical assistance to the beneficiaries of livestock distribution
Arrange community meetings, sensitization events and farmer field days for community members to learn about livestock production and management
Provide weekly reports and updates to the Program Director and Moroto Team Leader.
Make on-site field visits regularly to monitor progress of GIRL livestock activities and provide strategic measures for progress to maximize the program’s economic and social impacts onto the community.
Assist business and girl (youth) groups to develop new livestock related businesses such as feed block manufacture, silage production, livestock fattening activities.
Promote livestock production targeting girls (women) and youth groups as an income generating activity.
Collaborate with livestock health companies and service providers such as veterinary extension workers linking them to the communities and girl farmers.
Prepare accurate and timely monitoring and field reports and other project documentation as required
Maintain proper project/program files.
Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with NGOs/CBO’s in livestock or veterinary services
Degree in Economic Development, Community Development
Experience working in livestock market development in pastoral communities
Commitment to working with youth and vulnerable groups in need, regardless of race, tribe, religion or gender;
Understanding of working with local partners;
Good problem solving, written and oral communication skills;
Strong written and spoken English
Local language skills required (Karamojong)
Ability to work without constant supervision and as part of a mixed team;
Good knowledge of MS Office software

Mercy Corps GIRL Team Leader Jobs in Uganda
Conduct M&E activities to ensure compliance with GIRL MEL Plan
Enter and analyse program data and provide reports to Program Coordinator
Work in partnership with regional M&E officers to ensure synthesis of lessons learned and coordinated drafting of annual reports
Maintain an up to date database that reflects progress (including disaggregated beneficiary counts) and donor indicators
Build the capacity of all relevant team members to develop and maintain an excellent M&E system, and facilitate periodic reflection and analysis of program monitoring information that feeds into programming and learning.
Participate in on-going M&E training and support for all Mercy Corps programs and partnering private sector staff
Visit sites and partners to collect supplementary data, stories and conduct qualitative research both independently and in teams
Requirements
Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agriculture, Demography, Statistics, Business administration or relevant field. MA preferred
At least 4 years of program monitoring and evaluation experience
Experience in program management, planning and process development
Strong understanding of M&E concepts and demonstrate skills in monitoring and evaluation, project cycle, results chain and frameworks, participatory monitoring
Ability to train, mentor and support other staff in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner;
Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail;
Ability to work as a member of a team essential;
In addition to Microsoft Excel, the incumbent should demonstrate fluency in use of at least one data management software including Ms Access, SPSS, STATA Fluency in written and spoken English required

Responsibilities
Prepare paper work for trainings and workshops related to SP3 Project;
Submit reports as specific events, field trips and meetings attended on behalf of Mercy Corps;
Participate in SP3 partners community meetings/activities and report to the Manager;
In coordination with the Program Manager conduct regular field visits to ensure that all stakeholders fully understand and utilize SP3 approaches and methodologies.
Prepare SP3 weekly movement plans and submit to Logistics team;
Support the team in filing program documents;
Write reports and project documents and submit to Program Manager as required.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, rural development, or related field
Minimum of two years’ professional experience in implementing peace and conflict related projects
Ability and commitment to team work
Ability to interact effectively with the diverse project stakeholders
Knowledge of the local languages is a must
Working experience in conflict or post conflict settings and conflict sensitive programming.

Responsibilities
The M&E Officer will be tasked with developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation tools
Play key role in the development of intervention designs, sector strategies and M&E frameworks
Manage the assessments, evaluations and monitoring surveys in area of operation. This will entail development of Scopes of Work, development of survey tools, trainings and management of data collectors, report write and facilitating results discussion.
Regularly document and share all learnings from program implements
Maintain an up to date database that reflects progress (including disaggregated beneficiary counts) and donor indicators
Build the capacity of all relevant team members and partners to develop and maintain an excellent M&E system, and facilitate periodic reflection and analysis of program monitoring information that feeds into programming and learning.
Leverage lessons learned, best practices, program data, evaluations and provide evidence based information, proposal annexes, success stories, case studies and other high quality, results-based documentation.
Work with MEL and IT staff to maximize the value and utility of ICT4MEL initiatives for activity monitoring and evaluation data collection.
Conduct regular spot check and sites visits for programs and partners activities to collect supplementary data, stories and conduct qualitative research both independently and in teams
Actively participate in on-going M&E training and support for all Mercy Corps programs and partnering private sector staff capacity building of the local partners, developing institutional development plans.
Maintain professional relationships with local government officials, private sector partners, NGOs, other development organizations, and civil society organizations
Maintain an active advisory role with each program team to help guide them towards robust and relevant data collection
Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Mercy Corps Monitoring and Evaluation Officer should hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Demography, Statistics, Business administration or relevant field
A minimum of three years of program monitoring and evaluation experience
Ability to design and implement surveys, have knowledge of commonly used probability and purposive sampling techniques
Excellent writing and analytical skills
Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection, reporting techniques. S/he should understand and be able to apply basic measures of central tendency and spread
Computer literacy skills i.e. proficient in using Microsoft Excel, data management software including Ms Access, SPSS, STATA.
Knowledge on Gender, social and power dynamics is an added advantage
He /she should be an excellent communicator, have a strong sense of humor, multi-tasker
Be able to work difficult and often stressful environments.
Fluent in both spoken and written English.
