Job Description

Meklit Microfinance Institution S.C is a transformed Commercial Microfinance institution S.C initially established according to proclamation no. 40/96 and recently revised proclamation 626/2009 issued by National Bank Of Ethiopia to provide financial and non-financial services to Medium, Small Enterprise and the low income people, particularly women, at both urban and rural areas of Ethiopia.

Meklit MFI is currently looking for candidates Sr. Accountant (General Accounts). The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS and GAAP.

Analyzes and evaluates monthly consolidations of financial results to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Assists with the month end close process and inter branch transactions.

Researches accounting standards and complex accounting transactions upon management’s request.

Coordinates and communicates with external auditors.

Communicates and informs leadership of issues, status, and results of assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

Advises on any changes or actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

Informs management of recurring issues or when additional team training may be required.

Assists leadership in implementation and roll-outs of large-scale projects and performs other

special projects or duties as required.

Familiarity with MFI industry’s or bank rules and regulations

Assists in training and developing team members to retain a motivated and professional workforce.

Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.

Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

BA Degree in Accounting, Banking and Finance or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

5 years of relevant experience and Trained on IFRS

Competencies

Good planning, Organizing,, analytical and decision making skills

Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire and empower others

Well organized and Ability to act in a professional and ethical manner.

Good skills in the use of computer application

Good oral & written communication and presentation skills

Problem solving skill

Working under pressure & keeping Deadline for assigned task
