Revenue and Reporting Manager, Zambia (Consultant)
After successfully conducting a land titling pilot project in Lusaka Zambia, Medici Land Governance Ltd has been engaged by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to lead land titling operations throughout the Republic of Zambia.
The Revenue and Reporting Manager, Zambia will support MLG’s efforts in Zambia.
This position is based in Lusaka (Zambia), and will report directly to the Zambia Country Manager. .
What You Will Do
• Ensure that all financial transactions (revenue, payment transactions, etc.) are properly recorded in the accounting and financial records of the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources:
• Develop procedures for the recording of transactions and train accounting staff on the procedures:
• Establish written procedures and controls on how to perform reconciliations:
• Improve processes of billing and collecting payments, including the introduction of e-billing systems, mobile money, and USSD for processing billing and payments:
• Institute a strategy for enforcement mechanisms to minimize occurrences
of non-payment:
• Develop a reconciliation methodology and system for all sources of payment points to ensure that all collected fees are centralized to a single bank account:
• Develop reporting mechanisms for the project execution (weekly, monthly and quarterly) :
• Gather data from all departments and compile needed reports for submission:
• Liaise between Utah and Lusaka-based Medici land Governance teams and government officials, with a focus on maximizing coordination, cooperation, and communication around revenue and reporting
What You Should Have
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting:
• 10+ years of relevant experience in Finance, particularly with local government:
• Excellent understanding of the Zambian legal system related to local government finances:
• Fluency in spoken and written English:
• Experience working for an international company:
What We Hope You Have
• Experience working with LCC, MLNR and the Ministry of Local Government:
• Master’s degree in Finance:
• At least 15 years of relevant experience:
• Fluency in Nyanja and/or Bemba
• Self-starter and able to work independently
