Job SummaryThe Project Coordinator (Channels of Hope) contributes to the mission of the organization by implementing a faith-integrated methodology that includes the local faith community to improve the health of mothers, newborns, and children in marginalised (local) populations including refugee settlements.
This position is responsible for technical support in the implementation of the Channels of Hope (CoH) project model in Uganda, mobilizing and equipping faith communities to deal with specific situations that impact the wellbeing of women and children, specifically Maternal, Newborn and Child Health.
Additionally, this position is responsible to provide leadership for the integration of Medical Teams Christian identity and focus into the programming initiatives, lead, mentor and coordinate the training of CoH facilitators, ensuring CoH initiatives are integrated into program design.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties: Lead and mentor national CoH MNCH training events and pilot workshops.
Provide support supervision to programs implementing CoH models.
Responsible to develop and implement a mentorship strategy for trained CoH facilitators, in collaboration with the Uganda Programs team.
Collaborate with the MEAL Coordinator in the establishing and managing of a monitoring and evaluation process.
Lead in the development of workshop/training curricula and tools at the various levels of the CoH programs.
Provide technical assistance to Uganda programs regarding the implementation of CoH models to promote women and child wellbeing through strengthening our Christian witness and developing church/FBO partnerships.
Assist in the mobilization of resources through proposal writing support.
Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by the Project and reporting protocols.
Other Duties:
Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
Perform other duties as required.
Other Competencies/attributes:
Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Must have experience in working in a multi-faith context and implementing faith-based programs.
Must have training and experience in facilitation and training of groups
Attend and participate/lead in devotions and Chapel services and retreats.
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Experience
University degree in Social Sciences, Development,
training in Theology, or Public Health.
Project Management qualification
Minimum of 5 years experience in community development or emergency response in either health fields.
Minimum of 3 years experience in working with faith communities, either as a pastor/faith leader, or involved in faith-in-development work.
Minimum of 3 years experience in facilitation and mentoring of adult learning events (training, mentoring, development of training tools).
Extensive experience in working with churches and church leaders across denominations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English, and ability to communicate cross-culturally and within inter-faith settings Knowledge of and experience in working with and coordinating with government, international and national partner organizations.
Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal communication skills (with counseling experience).
Skilled with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software
Demonstrated ability to build and monitor complex budgets
Demonstrated ability to manage projects to satisfactory completion
Demonstrated ability to work independently while being a strong collaborator with proven management and leadership skills.
Ability to embrace and promote Medical Teams calling, mission and values
Ability to represent Medical Teams in a professional manner to donors, volunteers, and the public
Physical Conditions & Work Environment
This position will require occasional travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions. The candidate must be willing to and able to live and work productively in resource limited settings, unstable and/or harsh environments.
