Our organizationPromediation is a non-governmental and apolitical organization, specialized in supporting peace processes. Through analytical work and an extensive network of various actors, Promediation intervenes in the resolution of armed conflicts and political crises by facilitating dialogue processes at the local, national and regional level. For 20 years, Promediation has been involved in conflict prevention and stabilization efforts mainly in Africa, the Maghreb and the Middle East.
In 2022, Promediation is present in almost all West African countries (Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast) but also in Chad, Libya, Sudan as well than in Iraq. Through the diversity of the projects carried out, whether national or regional in scope, Promediation works on a range of themes (management of cross-border areas, social cohesion, pastoralism, dialogue with armed groups, restoration of bonds of trust between defense and security and populations etc.) allowing it to develop synergies and an overall vision of the factors of conflict in its areas of intervention.
TasksUnder the responsibility of the General Management, the program manager contributes to the implementation, management and monitoring of the program in his defined area; the development of relations with institutional partners and with local actors; analysis of the situation and the opportunities for action to be implemented.
Main activitiesProgram management (action monitoring, narrative and financial reports with the support of the Administrative and Financial Manager, donor relations, etc.);
Participation in the implementation of the action (preparation of meetings or dialogue meetings, organization, follow-up);
Participation in the design and programming of activities based on opportunities, interests and needs identified through relationships with target actors;
Analysis and understanding of the dynamics in the area of intervention;
Monitoring the security, political and social situation in the defined area;
Regular writing of summary and analysis notes on the area of intervention;
Creation of a network of local consultants and supervision of local consultants (one-off or regular consultants who participate in the organization of meetings at local level, help to ensure the link with local actors);
Monitoring and animation of dialogue tools and established networks (WhatsApp groups, meetings, etc.);
Management of the local office (budgetary monitoring of running costs, management of the office/team house) according to the zones;
Representation and link with national and international institutional actors;
Creation of a network of contacts of institutional and associative actors representative of the area;
Development of relations with other organizations active in the area of intervention, reflection on the complementarities to be developed;
Relations with donors: exchanges
and reporting on the financial and narrative aspects of the action;
Relationship with local authorities, with representatives of institutions and target groups;
Coordination, sharing of experience and construction of expertise shared with the other members of the association relating to the situation on the ground and which can contribute to the reflection around the strategic orientation of the program.
Complementary activities
Depending on the size of his area of intervention and his program, the program manager may be required to supervise one or more program assistants.
He/she will also be required to participate in other projects within the Association and may be required to write all summary notes and reports at the request of the General Management.
All of these missions are not exhaustive and are likely to change over time.
Geographic Mobility
Based in one of the capitals of the Gulf of Guinea, the program manager will be required to make frequent trips within the country insofar as security conditions allow.
Security Responsibilities and Obligations
(PSEA), the Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption Policy, the General Security Plan and the procedures in force within the organisation, in particular during field missions.
He/She acts under the responsibility of the Director General and the Deputy Director of the organization, the latter being the person in charge of security.
He/She receives initial security training and specific training throughout his/her presence within the organization.
Required Skills
Minimum Master 2 / Bac + 5 in social sciences
Experience in project management (monitoring of activities, donor relations, financial aspects)
Excellent writing skills
Interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to different audiences and contexts
Good knowledge of the area of action and its political, security and socio-economic dynamics
Experience in an international or non-governmental organization preferred
Fluency in English required, speaking a local language is a plus
