Under the supervision and guidance of the Project coordinator, GBV Response Project Officer will provide both management and technical support to the project team to ensure that GBV response activities are executed effectively.
GBV Response Project Officer will be responsible to lead the outreach activities and support GBV response activities of project team.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Work closely with the project coordinator and project team to understand project goals and to meet expectations.
Analyses to better understand protection risks for GBV survivors.
Mapping points of service for survivors of GBV and vulnerable individuals, and to identify existing support structures.
Advise PSS, Legal and outreach team on integrating GBV prevention to other sectorial activities.
Oversee, supervise and strengthen the referral systems, PSS activities and legal support.
Work with teams and communities to develop appropriate prevention and awareness-raising/behavior change strategies
Train project and Local GO and NGO partner staffs on GBV prevention and response such as gender basic concepts and Guiding Principles, guiding principles of addressing GBV, GBV case management, referral pathway development, compassionate care, facilitation skills, mobilization etc.
Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems.
Ensure appropriate reporting of through monthly activity reports and quarterly project reports of Nikat, on time and with accurate data.
Ensure quality outreach service delivery focusing on at the project site.
Planning and ensure implementation of Peer education sessions with outreach worker.
Supervise and mentor the peer educators and outreach worker.
Strengthen referral pathway among services provided in the project site.
Strengthen identification and referral of GBV survivors by PE and outreach worker.
Strengthen accompaniment of GBV survivors by Pes and outreach workers.
Supervise and support the outreach worker on planning, implementing and monitoring peer education sessions.
Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed.
Job Requirements
Expected profile
Master’s degree or Bsc degree and equivalent experience in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Social Work, Public Health or other relevant field of study.
Minimum 3 years for master’s or 4 years for BSC degree holders of experience of developing and supporting the implementation of gender programming, including at least 1 years of international, humanitarian experience
Previous work experience with key pop and specially with FSW’s
Understand the harm reduction approach that MdM promotes
Proven knowledge and experience in developing and supporting community mobilization projects.
Regional experience preferred.
Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming and coordination.
Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs
Good communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, working knowledge of local language is an asset
Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision.
