Job Description
Médecins du Monde (MDM) is a French Non-Governmental Organisation involved in humanitarian medical aid, operating in Ethiopia since 1988.
The NGO currently implements project in Somali Region to reduce morbidity and mortality rates of crisis affected populations through a multi-sectoral approach.

Job Summary
Responsible of overall logistic activities of Medecins Du Monde – France in Somali region. Supervising the log team (Logistic Officer, drivers, guards, cleaner) and ensure the reinforcement of their capacities.
Supporting the Field Coordinator in the management of security. Ensure proper procurement process, documentation, planning of activities and coordinate transportation of goods from/to Jigjiga to/from the field and Capital office in Addis Abeba. Ensures Proper management and allocation of MdM assets in Jigjiga and Gerbo.
Duties and responsibilities:
Planning, managing, Organizing and controlling overall logistic activities of the project.
Prioritize the needs that can enhance the performance of the project implementation in due courses
Manage and control vehicle movements and their fuel consumption
Follow-up and reporting the project site situation and specifically make sure that all the organizational personnel and asset are protected from any insecurity on their assigned duty stations
Lead the logistic staff, make sure that the staff are performing as per their responsibilities and fulfilling their accountabilities
Identify the strength, weakness of the logistic staff and give short term training and recommend what can enhance their motivation and dedication to fulfil their responsibilities
Follow-up of the office and the guest house if they need reparation and maintenance, the utilities are flowing without interruption, ability of power and water back-up
Make sure if all communication channels and equipment in use are properly used and functioning well
Ensure that all goods are well organized and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.).
Produce stock movement reports according to MdM policy and
formats
Ensure that all suppliers and service providers conform to the Purchasing Ethics Charter
Optimize all logistics operations to increase cost effectiveness including setting up longer-term supply contracts
Ensure that MDM procurement policies and procedures strictly followed
Employment Term:
6 months with possibility of extension, start immediately
Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience
BA degree in logistics & supply chain management or any other business field
At least 2 years professional experience on a similar position
Ability to work independently and in a team of diverse backgrounds
Excellent communication skills with sense of diplomacy
Ability to classify and manage priorities while being autonomous
Proven experience in Humanitarian logistics, procurement, stock management.
Good understanding of the procurement rules and regulations of major international donors.
Experience in working in complex humanitarian setting, experience of security related responsibilities desirable.
Ability to work with extremely tight deadlines and multiple tasks, delivering good quality work in timely fashion.
High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills and motivation to work as part of a team.
Proficiency in using MS Excel and Word programmes, and common computer and communications applications.
Excellent written and spoken English, Somali and Amharic.
