Job Description

Médecins du Monde (MDM) is a French Non-Governmental Organisation involved in humanitarian medical aid, operating in Ethiopia since 1988.

The NGO currently implements project in Somali Region to reduce morbidity and mortality rates of crisis affected populations through a multi-sectoral approach.

Médecins du Monde (MDM) invites you, the qualified candidate, to apply for the position of Logistic Field Officer.

Job Summary

Under the authority and responsibility of the Logistic Manager based in Jigjiga MdM Sub Office, responsible for the technical & logistics support to the field, pertinence & coherence of logistics programs.

Supervising the log team (drivers, guards, cleaner) and ensure the reinforcement of their capacities.

Duties and responsibilities

In charge of procurement according to the base’s needs with the consultation of Logistic Manager or/and in Addis Abeba in coordination with the Logistic Coordinator

Ensures that procurement is made in accordance to MDM procurement procedures and filing necessary documents

Ensures the distribution of donations to partner facilities

Plans and coordinates MdM staff movements between field and Addis Abeba (car, plane, hotels, per diems, etc.)

Coordinates the logistics aspects of activities in Gerbo (trainings, distributions, etc.)

Responsible of the Maintenance of the Office/GH: water tank, electricity and Generator, AC etc.

Responsible for the organization of the trainings based on the needs of the Project Coordinator

Responsible to make request to logistic department in Jigjiga and in Addis Abeba according to the field needs.

Responsible to monitor the locally security situation – Field area

Check

the security before any movements within the targeted area and outside

Duty Station:

Somali Region - Gerbo

Employment Term:

6 months with possibility of extension, start immediately

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

BA degree in logistics & supply chain management or any other business field

At least 2 years professional experience on a similar position

Excellent written and spoken English Somali and Amharic

Good knowledge of Microsoft office and internet: Good command of Excel is mandatory

Technical capability in maintaining electric system, water system and generator service

Ability to easily understand the project area’s social, security and economy context

Ability to work independently and in a team of diverse backgrounds

Excellent communication skills with sense of diplomacy

Ability to classify and manage priorities while being autonomous

Organisational skills and Rigour are mandatories

Understanding and adherence to humanitarian principles
