Job SummaryThis role will be empowered and responsible for maintaining stability of infrastructure operations within multiple technology disciplines. The Senior Manager - Shared Infrastructure Services will provide direction to and ensure quality of work produced by multiple outsourced managed services teams comprising of both support and project teams.
Candidate must use sound technical judgment, provide clear guidance to team members, and assist with removing productivity barriers.
They would be responsible for ensuring proper incident management and overcoming operational inefficiencies of various areas such as monitoring, backups, databases, compliance, process documentation, quality control, capacity management, service degradation, escalation support, software and hardware upgrades, storage, servers, virtualization (applications and desktops), inventories, and change control compliance.
This position will also help analyze various infrastructure systems with the expectation of documenting and recommend changes towards improving operational excellence.
The ability to propose out of the box solutions while being cost conscious is critical in this role. Additional responsibilities will include Incident Management, Lifecycle Management, Tactics and Project Guidance, Backup and recovery, Monitoring, Capacity Planning, Inventory Management, and Compliance, Change Management, and Process improvements.
Education and Experience Required:3+ years management experience
3+ years of experience leading IT projects and understanding of project management methodologies
Must be an engaged and self-motivated leader that actively participates in and can lead meetings
Ability to provide clear team guidance and prioritization based on changing business needs
Ability to lead in a matrixed organization
Strong ability to multitask, analyze, plan, gather stakeholder buy in, communicate, and present
Must have a technical background, preferably within an infrastructure team.
Experience directly managing a VMware / virtual installation including on a Nutanix platform.
Must understand technical requirements, architecture, and operational impact of various projects
Experience supporting a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) such as VMware Horizon
Experience and extensive knowledge building virtual desktop environments (VMware preferred)
Microsoft Windows Active Directory with server administration (including Group Policy)
SAN storage systems both hardware and software defined
Backup Systems On-Premise/Cloud
Preferred:
Strong negotiation skills
Awareness of global hospitality technology trends
Strong experience in back of the house and guest-facing operations
Broad technical acumen with a solid understanding of current technologies (VMware, servers, Windows, desktop, Office, etc.)
Marriott experience (field technology architecture, building architecture and construction principles and related IT design standards, multi-brand experience)
Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating processes, systems and/or initiatives
Ability to work across organizational boundaries, to help lead and influence change
Strong project management skills with an ability to develop and deliver projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output in a team environment
Budgeting and capital acquisition experience a plus
Prior experience with managed services in an on-shore/off-shore model highly preferred.
Technical certification background such as VCP, MCSE, CCA, etc a plus
VMware VCA/VCP certification
Virtual data center or cloud computing experience is preferred
Microsoft 365 knowledge a plus

Manage VMware virtualization environment and its associated components including vSphere, vCenter, Horizon and ESXi
Manage Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, DFS and Group Policy
Patch and update drivers and firmware for datacenter servers such as Dell PowerEdge and/or Cisco UCS
Manage Active Directory on a Windows Server 2016 platform. Administer and maintain network end-user accounts, permissions, access rights and group policy management
Create and maintain systems documentation
Serve as project manager for a variety of IT initiatives
Install, upgrade, and maintain server software, applications, and patching
Maintain storage snapshots and consolidation ensuring network drives are optimized
Account Management in Active Directory
Maintain backup systems and scheduling
Diagnose, resolve and document hardware/software problems in a timely and accurate manner
Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize availability
Deliver end-to-end systems engineering services to customers - requirements gathering, design, development, test and documentation of VDI solutions
Develop project plans and schedules, identify technical risks, and support the customer in mitigating risks to the mission
Make recommendations on software, hardware, cabling, and equipment for existing and/or new customer sites based on industry best practices and regulatory guidance (NIST, DoD)
Successfully execute projects, on-budget and schedule, and document/report project outcome
Install and configure all infrastructure (Network, Storage, Compute) required to support VDI environments
Configure and troubleshoot VMware Horizon View environments along with its architectural components: Desktop Pools, Connection Servers (and Replica Servers), Security Server, Enrollment Server, Resource Pools, vCenter, and thin and/or zero-clients.
Image development & testing, image deployment;
Assist in image creation, testing, and deployment
Develop and update System Documentation.
Deliver formalized and over-the-shoulder training on technology solutions to customer staff Perform other duties as assigned.
Perform morning system health checks on all supporting VDI systems
Clear stale VMs from pool inventory, review system logs and correct errors
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that affect customers using VDI.
