The Role

To manage and provide leadership and oversight at Marie Stopes over the delivery of comprehensive and voluntary family planning (FP) and PAC services through the following channels: Social Marketing, Centres and mobile community –based midwives (MS Ladies). The role is likely to require travel both within and outside of Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Develop and implement business plans and strategies for Social Marketing, Centres and Marie Stopes Ladies and Marketing, in order to maximise client use of; and satisfaction with Marie Stopes (MS)clinical services.

  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services run on a cost recovery basis, determining cost of services across the channels and locations to achieve optimal balance between equity, affordability and sustainability.

  • Support excellent grants management and the ultimate success of all donor funded activities by ensuring donor compliance and delivery of donor commitments.

  • Manage the establishment and maintenance of effective clusters of clinical outlets, and collaborative relationships in support of the delivery of high quality client care and referral mechanisms

  • Ensure implementation of MSI’s Success models and staff alignment to the Marie Stopes organizational values and behaviours.

  • Measure results on a continual basis, using analysis to drive improvements performance of MSI’s business channels.

  • Actively manage any third-party distributors to ensure on-going reporting of financial and sales figures, and where applicable stock and marketing material needs.

  • Ensure good stock management and no stock outs through forecasting and planning for the business.

  • Work with the ESA Regional Social Marketing Manager and the MS legal team as applicable, and support on product registration and trade mark registration.

  • Develop and drive the implementation of an innovative and comprehensive marketing strategy to raise awareness of Marie Stopes’ profile and to increase the impact of its services in accordance with the organizational and channel objectives as applicable.

  • Develop and implement consumer led marketing activation plans and communication mix to build client awareness, product/service uptake and brand loyalty.

  • Utilize market research, consumer insights and segmentation to implement effective and impactful integrated marketing strategies and detailed activation plans across service channels to increase engagement, achieve business targets and build brand equity.

  • Develop and implement effective marketing campaigns using consumer insight and segmentation to simplify and strengthen key messaging and strategies.

  • Ensure marketing materials are developed in accordance with business needs, MSI standards and brand guidelines.

  • Identify opportunities for products and sales, while ensuring product strategy is aligned to service delivery strategies.

  • Working with the Director of Compliance, ensure compliance to Marie Stopes and MOH standards for clinical quality, data capture and reporting, communication and grants management.

  • Manage
    systems for the prevention and detection of fraud and ensure internal controls are strictly adhered to.

  • Ensure all Department staff are trained in Marie Stopes’ approach to fraud and bribery as well as all other organisational policies

    Leadership

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Department in order to achieve the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.

  • Ensure all Department staff are aligned with the organization’s and values.

  • Proactively mentor and/or coach the channel leads to critically assess opportunities to improve efficiency and maximize impact.

  • Ensure that the structure of the Department is fit for purpose and that all roles and responsibilities are relevant to the needs and demands of the organization and that goals and strategies are clearly communicated to all team
    members.

  • Role model Marie Stopes core values, and demonstrate Marie Stopes behaviors at all times.

  • Represent Marie Stopes externally and internally in accordance with its values and policies and as may be delegated by the Country Director at any time

  • Performing any other duties that are incidental to the achievement of the organization’s mission, strategy and objectives, as may be assigned by the Country Director

    Experience

  • At least five years’ experience in Senior Management / Leadership of commercial health programs

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage income generating health programs

  • Demonstrated ability to professionally develop and coach team members

  • Strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills

  • Experience and knowledge of Ugandan health sector and community health service delivery

  • Solid understanding of healthcare and regulatory requirements and issues

  • Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of management

  • Knowledge of Family Planning and PAC service delivery is added advantage

  • Proven experience managing diverse teams to deliver complex programming on time and under changing circumstances

  • Strong networking skills and advocacy skills required.

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly around negotiation, influencing and conflict management

    Qualifications and Training

  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related advanced degree relevant to the areas of public Health and Social Business
