The Manoff Group, Inc. is recruiting a Technical Director for Nutrition for the USAID/Uganda Maternal Child Health and Nutrition Activity.

The project will work to strengthen the government performance in implementing strategies to improve Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) outcomes by improving MCHN service delivery and increasing the capacity for MCHN “good” governance.

The Technical Director for Nutrition will directly assist the project’s Chief of Party in the design, implementation and monitoring of multi-sectoral nutrition interventions.

This position is contingent upon award from USAID. Ugandan nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.

City location to be finalized upon award. No relocation expenses will be provided.

The successful candidate will have experience and education in nutrition as well as experience in working at the district level in Uganda, with a preference for candidates with strong facilitation backgrounds.

Specific Responsibilities

Consistent with overall program vision, provide overall technical guidance to USAID/Uganda MCHN Activity.

Guide the ongoing implementation of technical strategies and plans for nutrition activities; and support the staff to achieve results.

Maintain a cohesive, motivated technical team and develop with them the processes that foster coordination and integration to optimize and leverage resources for significant, geographic-focused impact.

Assist Chief of Party in preparing annual, quarterly, and monthly workplans, monitor progress in achieving workplan objectives, and take corrective action to achieve the intended program objectives.

Assist COP with the preparation and analysis of budget for nutrition activities; monitoring spending against budget (burn rates), and making decisions concerning re-allocation of resources.

Develop scopes of work and review proposals for outside resources (including contractors, consultants, and local partners), that will directly contribute to achievement of results.

Oversee the individual performance of senior nutrition technical staff. This will include performance reviews and mentoring of technical area team leaders and assisting in their oversight of the performance of the individuals in their teams; provide relevant advice on personnel related decisions to the Chief of Party.

Form technical partnerships with groups operating in Uganda that can support USAID/Uganda MCHN Activity project implementation.

Represent the USAID/Uganda MCHN Activity nutrition aspects of program to USAID, GOU, Ministries and district government, local partners (CSOs), and other donors.

Work closely with the Chief of Party on the nutrition technical agenda as it affects the project’s resources or ultimate results.

Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Public Health or related field and three (3) years of professional experience managing Nutrition programs;

Or A Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of professional exposure working in mid to senior management position (in addition to the below requirement of seven years);

And

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively increasing responsibility working for successful Nutrition technical assistance programs;

Demonstrates expertise and experience in service quality improvement and operational research approaches;

Experience and expertise in managing integrated health services;

Experience and expertise in managing programs in across sectors beyond health;

Excellent communication and negotiation skills;

Experience in successfully engaging the private sector;

Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of management expertise and experience;

Experience with integration of gender and youth analysis into health projects and services; and

Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills.
