Makini Schools Academic Director Jobs in Kenya

Makini Schools consists of eight primaries and one secondary, educating over 3,500 students on two campuses in Nairobi and three in Kisumu. The schools were founded over 40 years ago and are high performing academically, in sports and arts. By 2025, we aim to be educating nearly 5,000 learners, increasing the schools through both organic growth and acquisition.

Makini schools are already outstanding in a local context. Our ambition is to develop the teaching and learning to a quality that would be regarded as outstanding in a global context. Our ambition is to build on this strength by creating Kenya’s first Teaching School; this will influence the quality of education across Kenya through delivering high quality professional development for teachers and leaders.

The School is searching for a qualified, dynamic and motivated person to fill the position of:-

Academic Director

Overall purpose:-

The post is a senior position and the successful candidate will be a member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The post holder will have the key task of leading and managing the academic life of the school as well as playing a crucial role in whole-school strategy and development.

The Academic Director is tasked with promoting and safeguarding

the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact with.

The key responsibilities include: -

● Development and implementation of strategies that will deliver Advtechs/Makini's educational vision.

● Development and implementation of strategies that will enable Makini to become a global leader of teaching and learning.

● Maintaining Makini’s position and profile as a leader in the delivery of the new Kenyan curriculum.

● Ensuring that Makini continues to deliver outstanding educational outcomes as it grows.

● Line management of the headteachers and developing them as high performing leaders.

● Together with the headteachers developing the capacity of the senior teams to lead continuous improvement.

● Play a significant role in the enrollment growth of Makini.
