Purpose of the job

Provide strategic leadership on the College's academic, administrative, and financial matters.

Functions of a Principal

• Be the chief administrative, academic and financial officer of the College;

• Promote and maintain academic excellence, efficiency and good order at the College;

• Implement University policies and enforce applicable regulations at the College;

• Exercise such other functions as may be prescribed by the University Council.

Reporting

The Principal reports to the Vice Chancellor.

Eligibility

- Eligible candidates should possess the following minimum attributes:

• Hold a PhD or other academic Doctorate in a relevant discipline;

• Be at least at the rank of Associate Professor at the time of application;

• Four (4) years of managerial experience in an institution of higher learning or a reputable research institution with a track record of having served at least as a head of an academic department or an academic programmes coordinator or research project manager;

• Teaching experience of at least Six (6) years in one of the disciplines offered in the College he/she intends to lead;

• Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor should not be above 61 years of age at the time of application;

• Applicants who are at the rank of Professor should not be above 66 years of

age at the time of application;

• Applicants must have demonstrable experience in networking, research and resource mobilisation.

Term of office of a Principal

The Principal is appointed for a term of four years and may be renewed for one further term.

i) Interested individuals should submit a letter of application with Curriculum Vitae, copies of relevant Academic Credentials and naming three referees;
ii) Applications should be submitted with at least two reference letters by the stated deadline;
iii) The deadline for submission of applications is 30th May 2023 at 5:00 p.m. East African time.
iv) Candidates who applied need not re-apply.
