Makerere University Cancer Registrar - College of Health Sciences Jobs in Uganda

Job Purpose

Summarize and provide Cancer registry data efficiently and in an accurate manner.

Key, Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct case finding, including reviewing database reports, coding summaries, pathology reports, and other data tools, to evaluate and review each case to determine if case qualifies for inclusion in cancer registry;

Provide accurate abstracting to registry computer data base for all reportable cases with correct and complete codes/data, ensuring adherence to data reporting standards and procedures;

Conduct follow-up on cases per standards and policies, to maintain accurate outcomes and patient status;

Provide data reporting and analysis as requested, meeting timelines and ensuring high-quality data;

Support tumor boards through research, data reporting/analysis, meeting support, or other assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Medical Records.

Postgraduate training in Health Informatics will be an added advantage

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience, as either an Archival Assistant or Records Assistant or Records Clerk in a Pathology laboratory or as a Cancer Registrar.

Skills/Competences

Skills in collecting and analyzing data;

Computer literacy and IT skills;

Classification and coding of diseases;

Knowledge of basic medical terminologies;

Record keeping skills;

Knowledge of electronic data security to ensure privacy and confidentiality of patients’ information;

Highly organized with exceptional commitment to task completion and quality assurance;

Laboratory Management Information System.
