Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsures that all expenditures are in line with the hotel policy and according to approved budgets.
Supervises employees within the department coach, provide on job and formal training, follows up the performances of all accounts staff, and conduct periodic evaluations
Ascertain reports are produced on time and all government taxes are remitted before due dates.
Compiles budget and review with the general manager to submit it to the Board for approval.
Assists the general manager in adhering to policies of the hotel decision making
Represents the department for negotiation with third party vendors in other service areas of operations.
To supervise & assist department heads in positive financial decisions and attends meetings and reports financial results and explains any accounting queries as they arise.
Adheres to the approved accounting policy and procedure manual and performs in accordance with the local laws.
Conduct periodic analysis of income and expense. Check the maintenance of internal controls tools.
Maintain accurate hotel accounting records according to laid down policies and procedures.
Check, supervise and control all purchases, disbursements, payroll and other expenses of the hotel.
Maintains basic knowledge of local financial law pertinent
to the accounting function of the hotel
Maintain all lease, contracts, licenses, permits and other documents which comprise financial commitment to the hotel and ascertain continuing compliance therewith
Work with human resource unit on payroll control, payroll budgets and procedures.
Initiate, supervise, control, spot- check all inventories and inventory taking.
Supervise and direct the chief accountant to minimize losses arising from uncollected guest and city ledger accounts.
Submit tax returns and other government reports to the proper authorities on a timely basis.
Communicate with the general manager in all accounting matters and other items of the significant nature.
Undertake most cost effective purchasing schedule while maintaining high quality standard
Ensure reports to board of directors and other government authorities are submitted on time
Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
At least BA Degree in Accounting/accounting and finance from accredited University.
Experience
At least 5 years of work relevant experience in hotel industry out of which 3 years as finance manger
Communication Skills
Speaks and writes clearly and effectively
Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately
Demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed
