Macademia Nursery Supervisor Job in Maragua, Kenya

Our client, in the business of processing and exporting of high quality macademia nuts in the African and Asian market seeks to recruit a Nursery Supervisor.

Job Specification-

  • Manage the nursery to ensure continuous supply of plants for sale to customers;
  • Graft macadamia, avocado and any other seedlings as may be required;
  • Identify plants as well as problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests and mitigation processes;
  • Prepare and assign work schedules and duties to nursery or greenhouse staff, and supervise their work;
  • Conduct employee training programs in consultations with the agriculture and special projects manager;
  • Perform manual agricultural or horticultural tasks;
  • Select and recommend for purchase seeds, plant nutrients and disease control chemicals;
  • Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies;

    Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bsc in Agriculture or any other related field;
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a busy nursery;
  • Knowledge of and experience in macadamia seedlings propagation will be an added advantage;
  • High level of integrity;
  • Aims to get things done well, set challenging goals, create own measure of excellence and seek to improve performance;
  • Have report writing skills;
  • Self-motivated and results driven and can work to tight deadlines;
  • Be a team leader and able to motivate those under working under;
