Purpose of the positionThe purpose of this position to respond on the execution and management of LWF Protection and Social Cohesion Program Area key objectives, results and approaches.
This is done in coordination with the Managers for Livelihoods and Quality Services, ensuring an integrated approach in implementing LWF WS Kenya strategy in the given location.
Specifically, the Protection and Social Cohesion Manager will take charge of all matters related to coordinating the implementation of the programmatic approach in protection and social cohesion with his/her team members, project development, implementation, monitoring, reporting, as well as budget control and monitoring.
Key Relationships
Managers for programmatic areas of Livelihoods and Quality Services, team members, management at Nairobi and Area Program level, donors, partners, beneficiaries and duty bearers.
Job Role: Grant Management
Key Results
The position holder contributes to fundraising, compliance management with regards to donor implementation rules, budget execution and budget tracking, and control ensuring prudent use of financial resources
Examples of value-adding activities
In consultation with members of the Protection and Social Cohesion team
Lead fundraising initiatives including proposal development and donor meetings
Works with finance officer to undertake budget tracking
Hold monthly budget review meetings with staff
Enhance adherence to donor compliance on grant management including expenditure levels, visibility and publicity, and reporting
Enforce LWF policies on prudent use of resources
Advise on re-allocation of funds depending expenditure levels

Key Results
The position holder has contributed to the design and achievement of the LWF/WS Kenya Program Strategy, having demonstrated responsibility for the organization as a whole by taking an active part in the overall leadership and development of the organization.

As a member of the Area Program management team
Provide technical project planning design and implementation of Protection and Social Cohesion project activities
Lead in stakeholder and gender analysis and engagement
Lead and represent LWF in Turkana/Garissa Host Community interventions
Take an active part in management meetings.
Support programme that benefit the community and in line with the vision, mission and values of the organization
Share information on needs and gaps and trends in approaches to guide development and implementation of ongoing and upcoming projects
Advise management on emerging issues on the ground and make recommendations for addressing them
Advise the management on opportunities for program expansion

The position holder demonstrates proactive and efficient leadership within his/her function, and initiates changes that have increased operational effectiveness.
Examples of value-adding activities
In cooperation with the management team
Support in training and building capacity of Protection and Social Cohesion staff
Coordinate needs assessment in units within the program area and in coordination with other thematic areas
Support staff in the implementation of project activities
Hold monthly project review meetings to assess project implementation progress against set targets and re-plan
Supervise and empower the team members to develop appropriate tools and procedures to deliver protection and social cohesion programming with the beneficiary groups in the individual, community and institutional levels.
Coordinate compilation of reports for the program area and consolidate progress and final reports in line with donor templates and timelines and LWF deadlines

Key Results
The position holder demonstrates specific expertise in their field, including legal and political proficiency, procedural capacity and leadership to increase organizational effectiveness within this area.
Examples of value-adding activities
In cooperation with the management team
Lead staff in implementation of government policies and alignment of project activities to LWF guidance notes and GoK policies
Provide technical support in
the implementation of project activities
Set key performance indicators and milestones for the thematic area in line with SPHERE, CHS and LWF thematic guidance notes
Coordinate needs and gaps assessments within the thematic area and in coordination with other thematic areas.
Lead, participate in and contribute to internal and external training and conferences and other activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge building.

The position holder ensures that strong relationships are held as paramount and actively nurtured so that rights holders, partners, and staffs are engaged and heard, and the organization is perceived as credible and consistent

Key Results
The position holder advocates for the rights and needs of rights holders in a strategic manner that soughs systemic change and leverage success and relationships
Examples of value-adding activities
In cooperation with the management team
Advocates for the rights of the vulnerable groups and collaborates with other partners in enhancing the aspects of mainstreaming and advocacy for the vulnerable population, taking into account gender and age in finding adequate solutions and approaches

Minimum Qualifications
University degree (Bachelor) in Social Sciences is essential.
Documented formal additional training (one or several) in at least one of the key areas (Community Services, Child protection, Psychosocial support)
Computer literacy..
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, with a strong preference for experience from an International NGO and/or
Humanitarian work within the designated sectors
Practical work experience from at least one of the following: (1) Community Services in Emergencies (2) Psychosocial (3) Child protection
Knowledge of relevant sectoral humanitarian standards, knowledge of Community Based
Psychosocial Support as an approach to programming is an added advantage
Experience from work with refugees within one of the sectors is desirable
Personal Attributes
High integrity, self-driven and able to set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines.
Ability to initiate and complete assignments and to work under demanding circumstances with minimal supervision.
Strong organization, supervisory, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication as well as team building and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of one of the local languages.
