Job Summary:Under the guidance of the Emergency Coordinator, the Humanitarian Officer will be responsible for providing support to all LWF Emergency response operations in the areas of Project implementation Support, Data Collection and Reporting, Proposal Development, Budget Monitoring and Control and Partnership Management.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Humanitarian Update: monitor and regularly update developing humanitarian situation in LWF operational areas, Uganda and refugee originating countries
Needs Assessment: follow-up any emerging humanitarian crisis due to natural and man-made disasters; and undertake humanitarian needs assessments.
Humanitarian Program Development: develop disaster preparedness and humanitarian response projects for submission to potential donors
Setup of Humanitarian Response: assume the role of acting Team Leader to set-up emergency responses
Field Monitoring and Support: organize field visits to monitor humanitarian needs, responses and emerging learning opportunities
Humanitarian Reporting: ensure reporting of humanitarian projects are prepared and submitted timely as per LWF and donors reporting requirements.
Representation: represent LWF in different humanitarian coordination forum at Kampala level and (at field level when necessary)
Other roles as may be assigned by the supervisor

Education, Qualifications, Experience & Special Skills Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, information Technology, Development Studies, Communications, Environmental Science, Public Health
Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation is essential
Minimum of 4 years' practical experience in designing and implementing activities related to emergency response
Previous experience in emergencies especially with a UNHCR- funded project is essential
Well-developed Report Writing Skills; demonstrated experience in preparing project reports for diverse audiences including Project Management Teams, Community Stakeholders, Government & Donors
Naturally Analytical with a strong eye for compiling both qualitative and quantitative reports.
Proven experience in partnering with Project implementing Teams to ensure the Project Reporting needs are met.
Excellent interpersonal and Communication Skills with ability to make complex data simple to understand
Sound understanding of Project Management Cycle and support activities
