The Role In a Nutshell

As the Junior Security Analyst (Blue Team), you will be working part of a team responsible for monitoring and protecting Luno's IT infrastructure:

• Managing incidents reported to/in the SOC (Security Operations Centre).

• Continuous monitoring and assessing vulnerabilities of Luno's IT assets to mitigate security incidents.

You will report into Mirek (Security Analyst) and Jacques' (Information Security Officer) team.

Your Mission Will Involve

• Monitoring, reviewing, escalating and responding to incidents detected within the SOC (Security Operation Centre) and collaborating with the security team and engineers for remediation.

• Carrying out endpoint, application and other relevant security related audits in accordance with the company vulnerability and threat management framework and organisational needs.

• Keeping up to date with the latest vulnerabilities and cyber attacks against technologies used by the company.

• Developing and maintaining audit checklists for remediated risks to ensure auditors can continuously monitor compliance and residual risk.

• Reporting findings to the Information Security Officer.

• Making suggestions for security improvements to Luno's defences.

• Ensuring endpoints are up-to-date with the latest security patches and escalating updates as required

In your first six months, you will

• Understand security operations at Luno.

• Gain basic knowledge of the tools needed to be effective in your role:

• AlienVault

• CrowdStrike Falcon

• JAMF

• Interacting with end users to collect more information and respond on incidents.

The Ideal Lunaut For This Role, Will Have

• 1-2

years of experience in a network support and/or security analyst role.

• Sound knowledge of Linux.

• Experience with MacOS (advantageous).

• General networking skills and understanding of protocols.

• Understanding of cloud environments (advantageous).

• A genuine interest in security operations.

• Knowledge of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum (advantageous).
