LSTM Senior Technical Officer Jobs in Kenya
The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health (CMNH)at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in maternal and newborn health.
Our vision is to end preventable maternal deaths, stillbirths and early neonatal deaths and improve the health of mothers and babies in low- and middle-income countries.
CMNH-LSTM has delivered successful programmes that aim to improve maternal and newborn health in Kenya since 2009.
We have a long-standing and effective working relationship with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Kenya, as well as with key stakeholders active in the health sector including the Department for International Development (DFID), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF and World Health Organization (WHO).
The Department for International Development (DFID) is funding a costed extension of the ‘Reducing Maternal and Newborn Deaths in Kenya’ programme, beginning April 2019.
The four-year programme goal is to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Kenya by ensuring increased and sustainable availability of quality MNH services.
Building on successes of previously DFID-funded maternal and newborn health (MNH) programmes, the programme will contribute to increased and sustainable availability of quality MNH services.
This will be done through providing support to: improve health worker knowledge and skills and sustainable systems for training and mentoring, increase the capacity of counties and facilities to monitor and use data to improve MNH quality of care and increase county capacity to plan, budget for and manage MNH services.
CMNH-LSTM will provide technical support at national level and to five counties with the overall purpose of promoting and supporting the institutionalization and effective stewardship of strategies and interventions to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity and to reduce stillbirths in Kenya at national level, as well as directly at county levels.
The five focal counties are Uasin Gishu, Vihiga,
