Our client, an agricultural production startup venture based in Johannesburg, South Africa is seeking to hire a Logistics, Warehousing and Machinery Manager on a three (3) years contract.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Logistics, warehousing and Machinery Manager will be responsible for the day to day activity of running the inventory, machinery and warehouse operations.
Job Purpose:
To ensure maintenance and security of farm machinery.
Organize and monitor storage, movement and distribution of farm produce.
Key Responsibilities
Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and machinery.
Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers
Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Responsible for ensuring that all logistics policies, procedures and guidelines are understood and followed by all team members.
Ensure store safety practices are in place to provide a risk-free experience for every team member and customer.
Efficiently coordinate and record all daily logistics needs as assigned
Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, personnel policies and procedures.
Identifying
and implementing warehouse system improvements.
Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Ensure inventory transactions accuracy by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse in a timely manner; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments.
Supervise the inventory control and maintain inventory accuracy by ensuring that the required daily counts monthly counts audits, reconciling variances and inputting data is conducted.
Inspecting, testing and adjusting equipment, as well as confirming delivery of equipment.
Ensure that the workplace is up to the required standards and provide any safety training to employees as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelors in supply chain management
3-5 years’ experience in warehousing, supply chain management or logistics is desired.
Proven management experience in a warehouse or logistics position
Able to manage time effectively
