2. Project Manager (Kenya Extractives Programme) - EPP/NRE/PMKX

The Role
We are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and talented Project Manager to be based full time in Nairobi, Kenya, who will be responsible for the smooth running of one of OPM’s larger adaptable and flexible governance programmes. The successful candidate will:

  • Work with the technical staff on the project to ensure that all interventions are in line with the objectives of the programme;
  • Ensure sound monitoring and evaluation of all interventions; managing the delivery of logistical support to the team;
  • Oversee the financial management of the programme.
  • Support the Team Leader in the delivery of the Programme’s objectives.

    The successful candidate
    We are looking for a Project Manager with an operational and change management, and business development, background ideally in a relevant development-related environment.

    You will have a proven track record of successfully managing fast growing teams, high performing staff and large projects. You will also have the ability to build and develop relationships with existing and potential clients and partners. In additional successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

  • Education to degree level, ideally Masters Level, in a subject relevant to OPM’s work.
  • Experience of working in a relevant development-related environment such as a consultancy, NGO or donor, managing large projects in excess of £1m, ideally funded by DFID.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience of managing multi-cultural teams
  • Excellent problem solving and management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High standard of both spoken and written English.
  • Numeracy and ability to work with budgets and financial data.
  • Ability to prioritise, show initiative and work calmly under pressure.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel in particular).

    The recruitment is for a full-time position and is based in Nairobi, Kenya starting late 2016/early 2017. This role is being offered as a fixed term contract for 12 months, with possible extension.

    3. Driver - Kenya (2 posts)

    We are looking for 2 Drivers to support the CMNH team in Kenya.

    In order to support this commitment, we are looking for 2 Drivers to support the CMNH team in Kenya.

    Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a safe and competent driving service locally to transport staff and guests on frequent fieldwork and training visits to the districts of Kenya. It may be a requirement of this role that general office duties will be carried out to assist the team.

    It is essential that you have a
    valid Kenyan driving licence and have sound knowledge of the driving safety laws and regulations for Kenya. You will need previous experience of driving for an international organisation and good geographical knowledge of Nairobi and the wider country.

    4. Finance and Operations Manager (Kenya)

    This senior post supports the Head of Office to ensure robust management systems and Standard Operating Procedures are in place and implemented across LSTM's Kenya office, within finance, programme and office management.

    Based in Nairobi, but with travel within Kenya and Tanzania

    Proven professional and progressively responsible experience in finance, administration, budget, business administration or related area, in a multinational or non governmental organisation will be essential.

    Working within a complex international environment, you will be responsible for the collation of the annual budget and forecasting to accommodate both statutory and programmatic reporting periods on an accurate and timely basis.

    You will possess a University degree in a business related degree preferably Accounting or Business Administration.

    You will be a registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and full professional accounting qualification: CPA(K), ACCA, ACA will be essential.

    Experience of effective staff management is an essential requirementof the role, as you will oversee the day to day operations of the LSTM Kenya office ensuring quality service to all teams and customers.

    Exceptional work prioritisation and organisational skills are essential as is a working knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software and Microsoft Applications.

    You will require excellent interpersonal and communications skills to develop effective working relationships both internally and externally as you will be communicating and advising a variety of different people on finance related issues.

    You will be required to provide guidance and training to the LSTM Kenya programme staff on budgetary and financial policies and procedures.
