Light Up Hope is on a mission to provide education and health interventions which "light a path out of poverty" and bring hope for a brighter future for impoverished students and communities in Kenya. We are driven by the believe that simply being born into poverty should not dictate the end of an individual's story. Our School Feeding program is one of the programs through which Light Up Hope is advancing it's mission in Kenya.
Based in Kajiado County, the Program Assistant will support the overall implementation of the school feeding programme including field monitoring activities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:Programme ImplementationParticipate in the design and review of the Program implementation strategies to ensure that there is accountability and efficiency.
Support the process of mapping and selecting the school feeding beneficiaries.
Support the development and review of the relevant policies and procedures to guide the School Feeding Program.
Support in the organization of stakeholders’ meetings.
Collect and organize information related to the school feeding programme, including enrolment, school contacts.
Oversee the implementation of sustainability projects within the assigned regions
Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation
Participate in writing activity, incident, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to inform the progress of the implementation
Maintain beneficiaries’ database through filing, data entry, and updating .
Conduct regular school monitoring visits to ensure implementation is on course, including timely food deliveries, food quality assurance, proper food storage and utilization by schools, among others..
Participate in documentation of Program Change/Impact stories
Consistently provide updates on the available platforms concerning the implementation of the school feeding programme.
Participate in data collection activities for needs assessments, baselines, and impact assessments both at
school and community levels
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
Support in the management and engagement of stakeholders at the school, and community levels.
Ensure all program participants are familiar with the school feeding programme program policies and procedures.
Work with and support the management to nurture strong relationships with schools, and community level stakeholders
Actively participate in various stakeholders’ related coordination meetings/forums as assigned
Accountability and code of conduct
Adhering to the organization’s code of conduct
Supporting and promoting the standards outlined in the code of conduct
Promote meaningful community engagement and consultations
Promote child safeguarding and child protection principles at all times
Job Specification:
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
University Diploma or Degree in an appropriate field.
At least two years of experience in a related field with progressively responsible experience in similar roles.
Must possess a valid motorcycle riding license.
Must be willing and able to ride a motorcycle as a way of accessing project sites.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Comfortable utilizing different data collection and reporting systems e.g. Kobo, ODK, Google Forms, Excel/Sheets, etc
Ability to speak Maa language will be an added advantage.
