To strengthen our highly committed and passionate team in Ethiopia we are looking for a
Project Officer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with frequent travel to project areas
Your duties:As a Project Officer, reporting to Eye Health Program Officer. The position holder will actively engage in the planning and managing of the child eye health projects to enable Light for the World to turn its vision on eye health into reality.
As part of the Comprehensive Eye Health programme in Ethiopia, the role holder will also be responsible to support the effective and efficient coordination and implementation of the eye health project.
S/he is also responsible for promoting Light for the World’s contribution in the sector at national, regional and partner level. Furthermore, the role holder will engage in networking with other NGO actors engaged in eye health and relevant stakeholders in Ethiopia.
The position is for one year with a high possibility of extension based on performance
Specific duties and responsibilities include Support partners in preparing project proposals and producing standard reports
Review partners report and provide constructive feedback in time
Develop, and maintain strong working relationships with partner organizations and their program staff through continuous communications, projects monitoring and technical support
Actively participate in the Country’s Office Strategic Eye Health Programme development in collaboration with Comprehensive Health team.
Actively participate in producing quality report to donors and government stakeholders; collect information on partners output monitoring sheet bi-annually;
Actively participate in the development of project proposals and appraisals of project
Play proactive role in coordination and monitoring of Eye Health components of the country strategy and annual work plans
Build the capacity of partners in the area of project cycle management and project budget preparation and monitoring.
Coordinate and work with
other Comprehensive eye health team in conducting assessments, mid-term reviews and final projects evaluations.
Active participation in networks and alliance building initiatives relevant for the field
Play active role in programme development to support fundraising for eye health services in collaboration and coordination with Comprehensive Eye health team
Ensure flow of information and exchange of ideas through active communication and dialogue with staff, partners and other stakeholders
Work in close collaboration with the deputy country director and all country office team.
Job Requirements
Required Qualification
Minimum of University degree/BSc/BA in public health and/or Health officer with a minimum of five years’ practical experiences in projects cycle management in general and needs to have health related projects background in particular.
MSc. in similar fields would be an added value. Prior experience in NGO setup is also required. Your vast general knowledge in projects/programmes planning and management brings an added value to the success of projects jointly implemented by Light for the World and its partners.
You must have good social attitude and ability to operate in a multifaceted cultural setting. Your interest in development cooperation, in particular on the inclusion of people with disabilities is vital.
