To help us advance this goal, we are seeking a talented,self-motivated and skilled individual of high personal integrity to fill the position of Accountant - Payments.
Purpose
The overall purpose is to ensure accurate and timely processing of all payments and prompt resolutions of payment queries in line with service level agreements (SLAs) and Delegation of Authority (DOA).
Key Responsibilities
• Follow to ensure that necessary requirements pertaining to payment requests are received
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of all company payments as per service level agreements (SLAs) and Delegation of Authority (DOA)
• Ensure all related tax obligations (VAT, Withholding etc.) and statutory deductions are accurately accounted for, reported and respective payments remitted to the regulators and returns filed accordingly
• Preparation of assigned general ledger account reconciliations
• Resolve payment related issues in a timely and customer centric manner
• Ensure proper maintenance and filingof records for the Payables section
• Ensure risl< management and internal controls are embedded within the role assigned.
• Continuous review of payment processes and methods for efficiency
• To act as the custodian for petty cash to facilitate organization's low value expenses
• Assist in budgeting and planning process including forecasting
• Provide supports duringaudit and handle audit queries
Qualifications
• Business Related degree from recognized institution preferably Bachelor of Commerce,Accounti ng or Finance option
• Relevant professional qualifications e.g.CPA part 2 or equivalent
Experience
• At least 2 years' experience in an Accounting role in a financial institution
Competencies
• In depth understanding of insurance operations and concepts
• Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements
• Risk Awareness
• Insurance concepts and procedures
• Knowledge of accounting principles
• Cash flow accounting
• Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting concepts
• Demonstrable commercial and financial management experience
• Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills
