About Us:

Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) is an Ethiopian Civil Society Organization re-registered by the FDRE Civil Societies Organizations Agency in accordance with Proclamation No. 1113/2019 on September 18,2019G.C.

It is established to empower lawyers with knowledge and skills in Human Rights, increase their role in the promotion and protection of human rights, to support venerable groups and remedy human rights violations through strategic litigation. LHR is currently looking for Finance & Administrative Head and Project Accountant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Admin and Accountancy:

  • S/he will be responsible for all aspects relating to finance, including budgetary and accounting elements, as well as cash flow. Ensure to adhere to Financial Handbook, LHR policies, donor and auditor requirements, Implement LHR financial systems, routines and procedures, Prepare and develop status report as required by management, provide regular analysis and reports, Explore and assess the new and better ways to support the project target beneficiaries most in need, Oversee the proper filing of financial documents according to standards and the Securing Supporting Documents (SSD) policy into the online system, Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

    Logistics:

  • S/he will supervise the accountant concerning the project assets inventory, monitor all contracts and supervising the maintenance of furniture, equipment, vehicles. Finally, s/he will support the logistics of special events e.g. seminars, workshops, retreats.

    Human Resources and Administrative
    Management:


  • S/he will supervise concerning the administrative management of staff (extension/termination of contracts), administrative records for the definition/updating of procedures and HR management.

  • Will perform other duties assigned by the organization’ management

    Place of Work: Addis Ababa

    Terms of Employments: One-year contract with the possibility of extension.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

  • B.A./University graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration discipline/ with a minimum of eight years or M.A. in related filed with a minimum of six years’ experience in the administrative and financial management of projects in the NGO sector;

  • Mastering of Excel and have a knowledge of Quick Book Software,

  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, exercise judgment, meet deadlines and work under pressure;

  • Honest, transparent, responsible;

  • Well organized and experienced in meeting deadlines.

  • Having an ethical and critical way of thinking;

  • Good inter-personal skills;

  • Previous experience working on international donors funded projects.
