Job Overview: The Data Collection Consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing data collection strategies to gather and analyze large amounts of data.
The ideal candidate should have experience in statistical analysis, data management, and project management.
They should also be able to work collaboratively with teams to develop data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement data collection strategies to gather and analyze large amounts of data
2. Develop data quality assurance protocols and procedures to ensure data integrity
3. Develop and maintain data management systems to store, organize, and analyze data
4. Conduct statistical analyses on collected data and create visualizations and reports
5. Collaborate with other departments to develop data-driven insights and recommendations
6. Manage and coordinate data collection projects, including timelines and budget
7. Provide training and support to staff members on data collection and analysis methods
8. Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in data collection and analysis
Qualifications:
1. At least a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Health, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation or any other related subject from a recognized university.
2. At least 5 years’ demonstrated experience in the evaluation of health and/ or development projects in Uganda.
3. Expertise in mixed-method research and evaluation methods, and ability to conduct high quality research, meet deadlines and respond to requests and feedback in a timely manner.
4. Strong analytical and conceptual skills to clearly synthesize and present findings, draw practical conclusions, make recommendations and prepare high quality reports.
5. Experience in working with datasets to conduct data analysis across multiple variables of interest.
6. Familiarity with, and ability to comply with international quality and accountability standards as applied in development cooperation.
7. Understanding the mental health care system in Uganda based on the principles of the mental health gap action program (mhGap) with specific bias to treatment of depression.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken communications skills in the English language. Fluency in local languages is a plus.

Please demonstrate your experience in the following in your application:
1. Knowledge of Research Methodology:
Familiarity with research designs, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods is crucial.
2. Understanding of PHQ-9: You need to have a deep understanding of the PHQ-9 questionnaire. This includes its purpose, the populations it is suitable for, how it is administered, and how it is scored.
3. Knowledge of Statistical Analysis: You should have a good understanding of statistical analysis techniques used in analyzing data obtained from PHQ-9 questionnaires. This includes descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and regression analysis.
4. Clinical Experience: Experience working with patients who have mental health issues or mood disorders is valuable, especially when designing studies or interpreting results.
5. Ethics and Research Regulations: It is essential to have a solid understanding of research ethics and regulations, including issues related to informed consent, confidentiality, and data protection.
6. Data Management: Experience in managing and organizing data is essential for any research project, including PHQ-9 studies. Familiarity with data management software, such as Excel or SPSS, is essential.
7. Research Writing: You should have excellent writing skills to write research papers, articles, and reports. You should be familiar with academic writing styles, such as APA or MLA.
8. Collaboration: You should have experience working with a team, including collaborating with other researchers, clinicians, or statisticians, to ensure the successful completion of a research project.
